Hey y'all, I'm doing something a little bit different on this video.
If you guys have followed the channel for a while
You know, I tend to stick to traditional stuff, jigs and reels, that sort of thing
But this is gonna be a cover, well not a cover, but I was gonna play the [E] whistle part from Ed Sheeran's new song Galway Girl
If you haven't heard the song, I'm not sure why you'd end up on this video, but check it out.
It's a cool song
It's actually a really cool album.
The whole album is pretty awesome.
So I thought it'd be kind of fun to do it
So one thing right off the bat, he does it in F sharp minor, which is kind of a weird key for a D whistle
Can be done.
It's just a little wonky.
So I'll get to that here in the second part of this little lick, but
Listen to the song too, so you know where it is.
Hopefully get a better ear for it
But it's a cool little line.
So here's how it goes
So
[Em] [E]
that's the whole tune.
I'll kind of run through the thing a little bit slower now
If we can get the melody, I won't do a lot of the ornaments on here
I'll kind of simplify it down a quick little lick here.
So now as far as the ornaments go
There's a lot of spots you can do kind of the short rolls
things [F#] like that
[Em]
[F] So I do a lot of those.
The other one that I'll [Em] do is what I kind of call a crossing note
[F] Whereas you as you hit the next note, you're [D#m] throwing your top [Em] finger off
[Fm] Like that so the B part has the tricky G sharp
Well, we'll call it a B part.
[Em] Whatever you want to call it
[E] Just kind of make that transition a little bit easier
So hope you like that one again kind of a bit off the reservation from what I usually do, but it's cool song
And cool album.
So anyway, hope
