Todd Rundgren - A Dream Goes On Forever - 2010 chords
Start Jamming...
I wasn't taking lessons from anyone, I just had to figure my own way around the instrument.
I soon got into this thing that [C] kind of appealed to me, because of the kind of music that appealed to me,
which was Major 7.
[Em] [A] Here's a Major 7.
[C]
Regular C chord.
Major 7.
Oh!
I feel melancholy [E] in this.
[C]
I mean, this is just saying, OK, we start here.
This is saying, feel this way.
It's [N] a fairly easy thing.
I know you can't see the piano, but it's essentially taking my little claw and going like that.
[C] [F]
[Ab] And it was really easy to come up with these chords.
Major and Minor 7, just by moving [Am] all up and down the [Em] way.
[Dm] [C]
This [F] [C]
was a fascination to me, the fact that you could take these two notes,
which is ostensibly a Discord,
[Abm]
but if you phrase them [C] properly, in other words, if you put one down here in the root,
and then you put that Discord, that doesn't sound right, does it?
[E] And then you add the other [C] notes, and suddenly it sounds so sweet.
[N] Burt Bachrach was a big influence on me, and I think that probably,
I would just noodle around with the piano all day long on the white keys doing Major and Minor.
In any case, I'm going to see if I can remember a song that totally features nothing but the
[Bb] [Gm]
[A] [Dm]
[A] piano.
[E] See, I was telling you, I was trying.
[Am]
[D] [Dm] [F]
A million old soldiers [Em] will fade away, [Dm] but a dream goes [E] on [Am] forever.
[Bb] [C] Now, stay here, I [F] got nothing [Em] to say, [Dm] unless I'm up within my [C] dream.
[F] A thousand true love's [Em] been living and dying, [Dm] but a dream goes [E] on forever.
[Am]
[Gm] [C] Days and years [F] we're not speaking [Em] of, [Dm] I'm able to do this stuff in my dream.
[C]
[Gm] You'll [C] have our everyday [F] hopes [Em] and fears, [Dm] and you'll find no exception in me.
[C]
Put [Bb] [C]
me [F] through a sea [Em] of tears, oh, it [A] makes me sad to [Dm]
leave.
[G] [F] So long, you've gone so [Em] far away, but [Dm] my dream goes [E] on forever.
[Am] [Gm]
Yes, [C] I believe that I'll [F] see you one [Em]
day, [Dm] for without it there is no [C] dream.
Yes,
[Gm] [A]
[Gm] [A]
[Dm]
[A] [G]
[Am] [D]
[F] so far away, so [Em] long ago, [Dm] but my dream goes [E] on forever.
[Am]
[Gm] How [C] much longer, [F] you'll never [Em] know, [Dm] till you join me within my [C] dream.
[Gm] How much [C] longer, you'll [F] never know, [Em]
[Dm] till you join me within my [C] dream.
[Ab] [N]
