Hey, [N] I'm Tommy Emmanuel and I'm here to talk about my guitar today and maybe some of the
reasons why I use this guitar and some of the characteristics that I like about it.
I've only just started using this one again.
I got this guitar in 2008 and it's a
Maiden guitar made in Melbourne, Australia where I'm from and it has a
fantastic sound and has a mic inside right there and as a pickups right here
and you can see that I've written on here
mids and mic that's because sometimes I get forgetful and I forget which one is
which because they look they just two little black dots like that so I can
control everything from here and mic and pickup.
The wood in this guitar is
really beautiful and you can see that it's called Queensland maple and it even
though it's a small body [E] guitar it [G] has a beautiful low mid [A] range
[E] rosewood fingerboard
[N] mahogany neck and this guitar is one of the best ones I've ever played.
It was
handmade for me by the custom shop at the Maiden guitar factory in Melbourne.
I've used Maiden guitars for a long time.
I've been playing professionally for 52
years and really I've been playing Maiden all my life.
I do have other brands of guitars that I
record with and use from time to time but in general when I tour my definite
guitar of choice is this and a lot of people see the word trust on my guitar.
I
wrote that on there years ago.
It's basically my belief in the gift that I
have and I think if someone has a calling in life like I do and I've
always known it when I was young I was aware that when I played
something wonderful happened to people and I don't know what it is I know it's
not me but it happens when I play so that you know it doesn't take a smart
man to think well I better show up and play and do my best and you know good
things keep happening so I trust that I'm loved for that and because I'm
loved for that everything that I need will come to me and that's what
that's about.
I trust in the love of the music.
So this guitar is wonderful to play
wonderful to record with and I'm using 12 to 54 gauge strings on this one.
I
have other ones that I tour with and I use 13 to 56 I use bigger strings and
and tune them in a different way.
I also keep the neck nice and straight and I
carry equipment with me to keep the neck straight.
You'll see on the fretboard
here I have the letters CGP.
Well that was an honor bestowed upon me by the
great Chet Atkins and it stands for certified guitar player [E] or as Chet used to say
corny guitar player.
[N] Anyway that's my Maiden guitar and you're not getting it.
