Guten Abend!
[Gm]
[B] [Ab]
[Abm] [Ab] [Db]
[Ab] [G] [E]
[Fm] Very good company and [Abm] we're glad that you be part of this company now.
Thank you.
I think you worked a lot
You practiced a lot early.
Yeah, it was a bit about your practicing
Is there a routine or how you started or you're still practicing some guys are [G] saying?
Oh, I don't practice anymore
Just [Gb] oh, no
I love to practice okay, and I need to practice
You know and there are some days when I just need to play the guitar
Not to practice just to play some songs to feel like a [G] part of of this, you know
But the best practice I find is [Bb] with the metronome Okay
[N] that's the best practice play songs and play rhythm and and feel [Ab] it and
Move around with it and [Gb] feel confident with that constant thing
[A] You know and you [Ab] make it feel how you want it to feel it's still time
But you can play back on it [G] and be right in time.
Yeah, like [Gb] for instance when I play my song Mombasa
I purposely do [E] stuff like this
[A] [E]
[Gm] It's almost falling backwards, yeah, but [Gb] it comes in right in time.
Yeah.
[B]
[E] Yeah.
Yeah
Yeah, it's all the [Bb] time.
It's just you going back and you [Gb] yeah
Yeah, and so I loved I love to do this because it gives the music a movement and a feeling
That is like when you watch a good singer.
Yeah
So I'm trying to do that
when I'm when I play
[G] My songs and I practice them with a metronome.
I try to [Gb] move the time to make it feel
Really good, you know, [A] and so so
[Ab] [F] [Gb]
[E] I make sure that this is is [Eb] going the whole time is right on
That's great.
Yeah, and then my what my hands do move it back move it forward.
Whatever this stays the same
I know you since I think 2002 was the first time [N] that we met and you play maybe more than 50 years now on stage yeah, and
Every time I see you on stage
It looks to me like you're enjoying your performance like it's the first time on stage.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, just tell us how you keep the fire burning man.
You know, you keep [Gb] the fire burning
Well a lot of it's to do [Ab] with the fact that when I woke up this [G] morning
My first thought was [Gb] I got a show tonight.
Yeah, you know what I mean?
I'm still excited just [G] about that
that's great, you know, [A] so and a chance to play [Bb] the guitar and
The unknown is is part of it.
How will I play today?
You know, yeah, will I be better than yesterday?
Yeah, or will I will I struggle [N] will it flow?
I don't know, but I'm excited to try you know
I know for sure everybody who saw you in concert or saw videos on YouTube today
There will no doubt no one will ever say oh he had a bad day or he played bad there
But do you sometimes?
Do you sometimes feel today it's it's you know, it's my routine and I'm able to do stuff
But I don't feel really like this is I don't feel like it tonight.
Yeah, of course.
I have those nights.
I'm human.
Yeah
No, but okay, this is a very interesting point here
Yeah, and I'm going to tell you that when people say to me, what do you do when you're having a bad night?
Okay, you know, we always are waiting for the magic
Yeah, and [Gb] the idea is to flow if this doesn't happen
Then you better have some good songs.
[F] That's it.
That's it
You better have some good songs [Ab] and some good arrangements because even on your [N] worst night
Where you are not inspired or you're tired or you have a backache or something?
Yeah
You have you better have some good songs to play because even if you play them
With all your heart as best you can it's still going to be a good show
That's it.
But if the magic is not there for you, the audience don't know that
Yeah, the audience don't know that you know that but they don't but unless of course
You're totally outrageous and you're really flying your kite then the audience definitely know it, of course
But but if you're playing your songs and you're playing them
Well, they don't know whether you're in a great place or whether you're struggling, you know
That's what I also love about you you would never show the audience that you have a bad day
You always try to do your best or the people that attend to your concert
Yeah, and if [Gb] I if I do a good show that I think is satisfying to me
Then I'm very happy [F] and I'm happy to say I had a great time tonight
Yeah, [Gb] if I if I struggle but I I knew it was okay
I got through [C] and someone says man.
That was the best show yet.
I'm like it was shit, you know
It can be so much [G] better
