I think we're alone now.
Make sure your [E] guitar is in standard E tuning.
Alright, this is a great song to play.
I love playing this song.
It's really [F#] fun, okay?
The song starts off like this.
I take my pointer finger and I put it on the 5th fret E string.
All I'm doing is I'm palm muting with my right hand.
I'm putting my palm on [A] the E, A, and D string to kind of give it that muted [Bm] sound.
So I'm just plucking down strokes [Am] and I go.
[E] [D]
[Am] [E] Alright, four notes.
So 5th fret E string, 7th [G] fret A string.
That's the 5th fret A string.
And then back to the [E] 5th fret E string.
[A] Alright, so.
[E] [D] [A]
[F#] Alright, and the vocals come in.
Children behave!
Alright, [B] and how that goes is [Am] like this.
[C#] [F#]
[B] [A] Alright, so it was power chords.
And what I was doing was I was palm muting, but I go.
[E] On the third pluck, I'm [A] actually strumming through the chords and then I go back to [C] palm muting, okay?
I'm strumming through the power chord and then go back to palm muting.
So we start off with the A power chord on the [B] 5th and 7th fret.
[G#] If you don't know your power [E] chords, an A power chord is pointer finger on [Am] the 5th fret
E string, [Em] ring finger on the 7th fret A string, [F#] pinky on the 7th fret D string, and you're
only playing those three strings, okay?
When I'm palm muting this, [Am] I'm only really playing the [F] E and the A string though, [E] okay?
But this is your power chord shape.
If [B] you move this around, this is going to give you all different types of [Em] chords, okay?
This shape gives us [B] all the chords for the verse of this song, alright?
So first we have A.
So we go.
[F#] And remember on that third down strum, [Em] I strum through the strings and I let them ring, okay?
The next chord, that's on the [F] 4th and 6th fret off the A string.
So my pointer finger's on the 4th fret [Fm] A string.
[A] We got my ring finger on the 6th [G] fret D string, pinky on the 6th fret G string, okay?
[C#]
[E] Alright, then I slide all the way up to the 9th fret.
So I'm on the 9th and 11th [F#] fret.
[B] Then I slide down to [E] the 7th fret.
Alright, this part should sound like [A] this.
[C#] [F#]
[E] [B] Alright and then it goes to the part, running just as fast as we can, [C#] which goes.
[C#m]
[E] [G] Okay?
And what I did right there was I made a C sharp minor bar chord.
Take your pointer finger, bar it over the 4th fret.
[C#m] Take your 4th fret, starting with this A string.
[N] Take your ring finger, put that on the 6th fret D string, pinky on the 6th fret G string,
and your middle finger's going to go on the 5th fret D [C#m] string.
That's what it should sound like, okay?
[B] That's what it should sound like, okay?
[G#m]
So what I do is I do [C#m] this, I go.
So down, down, up, down, down, up, down, down, up, down, down, up.
And then I go [C] and I take my pointer finger and I put that on the 5th fret E string and I [E] go.
See what I'm doing there?
I'm just putting my finger on and then taking it off.
So on, off, on, off, on, off, on, [B] off.
At the same time I'm palm muting, okay?
So I have my palm on the strings.
Alright?
I'm not doing that, I'm going.
[G#] Alright, once again, really slow.
[C#m]
[E]
[C#m] [E]
[N] Alright, and it goes.
Trying to get away [D] into the night.
Okay, and this [G] part is G, [E] E.
And then we say, [Em] and on say, it goes [B] back to the A bar chord, [A] okay?
So we go.
I think [Em] we're alone now.
[D] There doesn't seem to [A] be anyone around.
Remember this is the intro.
I think we're [Em] alone now.
The [Dm] beating of our hearts is the [Am] only sound.
Before I do the only sound, I actually go.
So you can hear it in the song.
I take my pointer [D] finger off and I play [E] just the E string open and then I put [G#] it back on.
And that's when you stop and you just tap your guitar.
You [G] go.
[E] You go.
Then it goes back into the verse, okay?
[A] So.
[C#] Alright?
[B] And then the second time we do the beating of our hearts is the only sound.
There's also a chorus in there.
And the chorus goes.
I think [C] we're alone now.
There doesn't seem to [G#] be anyone around.
And how you play that on guitar is just like [A] this.
You just go.
I think we're [E] alone now.
[D] There doesn't seem to be [A] anyone around.
I think [E] we're alone now.
[D] [A]
[E] So it's all down strums, [G#] okay?
And I just [A] did hard, soft, hard, soft, hard, soft, hard, soft, hard, soft, hard, soft.
[Em] See how it gives it kind of that variation that's pleasing to the ear?
So those are all the parts to this song.
This is a really easy song.
[D] Really fun to play.
So what I suggest doing is opening up the original recording, finding it on YouTube,
[B] find it wherever, an old CD, whatever.
And sit down and memorize all these parts I just [N] showed you and then piece them into the song.
That's the whole song, okay?

And what I was doing was I was palm muting, but I go. _
E string, [Em] ring finger on the 7th fret A string, [F#] pinky on the 7th fret D string, and you're
only playing _ _ those three strings, okay?
When I'm palm muting this, [Am] I'm only really playing the [F] E and the A string though, [E] okay?

_ So we go.
_ _ [F#] And remember on that third down strum, [Em] I strum through the strings and I let them ring, okay?
The next chord, that's on the [F] 4th and 6th fret off the A string.
So my pointer finger's on the _ 4th fret [Fm] A string.
[A] We got my ring finger on the 6th [G] fret D string, pinky on the 6th fret G string, okay?
[C#] _ _ _ _
_ [E] Alright, then I slide all the way up to the 9th fret.
So I'm on the 9th and 11th [F#] fret.
_ _ [B] Then I slide down to [E] the 7th fret.
_ _ _ Alright, this part should sound like [A] this.
_ _ [C#] _ _ _ [F#] _ _ _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ [B] Alright and then it goes to the part, running just as fast as we can, [C#] which goes.
_ _ [C#m] _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ [G] Okay?
And what I did right there was I made a C sharp minor bar chord.
Take your pointer finger, bar it over the 4th fret.
[C#m] Take your 4th fret, starting with this A string.
[N] Take your ring finger, put that on the 6th fret D string, pinky on the 6th fret G string,
and your middle finger's going to go on the 5th fret D [C#m] string.
That's what it should sound like, okay?
[B] That's what it should sound like, okay?
[G#m]
So what I do is I do [C#m] this, I go. _ _ _ _ _
_ So down, down, up, down, down, up, down, down, up, down, down, up.
And then I go [C] and I take my pointer finger and I put that on the 5th fret E string and I [E] go.
_ _ _ See what I'm doing there?
I'm just putting my finger on and then taking it off.
So on, off, on, off, on, off, on, [B] off.
At the same time I'm palm muting, okay?
So I have my palm on the strings.
Alright?
I'm not doing that, I'm going. _
_ _ [G#] Alright, once again, really slow.
[C#m] _ _
_ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ [C#m] _ _ _ _ _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ [N] Alright, and it goes.
Trying to get away [D] into the night.
Okay, and this [G] part is G, _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[E] E.
_ _ _ _ _ And then we say, [Em] and on say, it goes [B] back to the A bar chord, [A] okay?
So we go.
I think [Em] we're alone now.
_ [D] There doesn't seem to [A] be anyone around.
Remember this is the intro.
I think _ _ _ we're [Em] alone now.
The [Dm] beating of our hearts is the [Am] only sound.
_ Before I do the only sound, I actually go.
So you can hear it in the song.
I take my pointer [D] finger off and I play [E] just the E string open and then I put [G#] it back on.
And that's when you stop and you just tap your guitar.
You [G] go.
[E] You go. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ Then it goes back into the verse, okay?
[A] So. _ _
_ [C#] _ _ Alright?
[B] And then _ the second time we do the beating of our hearts is the only sound.
_ _ I think [E] we're alone now. _
_ _ [D] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ [E] So it's all down strums, [G#] okay?
And I just [A] did hard, soft, hard, soft, hard, soft, hard, soft, hard, soft, hard, soft. _
