It's a super show.
Because it's an expressive sort of thing.
Oh, I'm ready.
And, you know
This is how we show up.
How are you doing?
I saw your show there.
I saw Sticks.
I haven't seen you.
I mean, it's a pleasure meeting you.
Same since tonight.
What is this for?
What is this keynote?
How do you feel going from being like a headliner on Sticks to warming up?
How are you handling it?
Handling it real well.
We're working hard and being a little cranky about it once in a while,
but we're turning out with a good band.
Is it totally different members?
Completely different, yeah.
And it's working out real well?
Yeah, it is.
You should come see it tonight.
This is the next to last show.
Really?
That you're doing?
Is it going to be all original material or do you have some Sticks in there?
Three Sticks songs.
Crystal Ball?
No, no Crystal Ball yet.
Okay, listen.
Did you get these guys' names?
It's really nice to see you.
You can come to the show.
Yeah.
Take care.
I wish people who get paid to interview me asked questions like [Am] that.
Shaw [N] and some friends got together to make some music,
and what a homecoming it was for the rock musician who grew up in Montgomery.
Tonight in a Southside feature, Tom Foreman talks about [C] Tommy's future and his past.
[Em]
[C] Once upon a time, Tommy Shaw [Bm] found a [Em] crystal ball.
It told him he'd be famous.
[E] What it didn't tell [C] him was just how famous.
It was with Sticks [Abm] that Shaw started not just making [Fm]
records,
but making millions of records.
I really never thought about it.
I was just having [N] a good time doing what I was doing, playing my music
and hanging out with the guys in the band.
And Tommy's still not doing the same thing.
He's still doing it all right, now with a new band and a new solo album.
[G] [D]
[A] [Em] There is the chance Shaw will [D] at least once in a [A] while get back in [Em] touch with his former group, Sticks.
[D] But for now, Tommy Shaw is more interested in making it on his own
and looking into his crystal [N] ball one more time.
We leave you tonight with a TV 12 [Dm] Friday night video of sort.

[N] We do this every day.
On a bus.
Pretty soon we'll be doing it on stage.
It's a promise.
[D] On the Paradise [C] Theater tour, $13 [G],000 worth of room service in two trips.
[N] Spoiled.
Cabs every day.
You know, they're used to riding in limos.
I have to make them come in here and do this every once in a while.
Show them, cabs are better than limos.
It's a drag.
Simple drag.
That's life on the road.
I think I was built [F] for the road.
And I don't mind living out of a [Ebm] suitcase, and I still [E] like to eat, you know, cruddy food.
I thought you think it was just like the [N] event of the year.
You like the liver flavored or the asparagus flavored?
You just drank one softie?
We do have a rule against eating in the studio here.
Well, if you can call this food, I suppose.
We ordered [D] meatballs.
We ordered a cheese tray that you could have put in a U [F].N. meeting,
and it [C] would have been [D] too much.
[Ab] We didn't eat one piece of [G] cheese.
We threw the cheese.
Here's to suffering on the road.
Yeah.
[B] [G] [Cm]
We had bathtubs full of the most [Ab] expensive champagne [D] money could buy.
Bathtubs [G] full of it.
[Am] 600 pounds of ice, and we still ran [Em] out of liquor.
[Bm] [Gm] Can you [N] send up a larger pot of coffee?
It's always breakfast time.
When you work these [G] long hours like this, this is [A] breakfast time.
[N] Excuse me.
I'm not a psychologist.
Perfect combination.
Everything's going to be okay.
[G] I suppose you have to get [Am] pancakes here.
Do they [E] need one way or another?
[D] [Fm] Usually, you know, the salad platter or the sound check is pretty [Eb] good.
Thank [N] you.
There you go.
Okay.
Sign these, please, for me.
Yours,

You're welcome.
[Gb] From Johnny Shaw.
[G] Hey, how y'all doing out there?
My name is Earl Dean Sibley.
[Ab] Glad to meet you.
We used to fly in a plane that would have embarrassed an Arab.
[G] Oh, tell him it's excellent.
I made it.
Spam on Sunday.
When [N] Burger King and all this stuff starts looking good, it is consistent.
Nothing like a little health food for [Ab] you out here.
Now we're living like animals.
We asked to have something there to drink, you know, something here and there.
And there were two lemons and about a half-eaten jar of mixed nuts.
When they had [Gm] a tray of [A] chocolate eclairs stuffed with custard, like [C]
[Gm] big, [Ab] these kind.
There was a gallon jug of milk that had that much milk left in the bottom of it
and a jar of orange juice that somebody had already opened up and drank out of.
You know these kind of eclairs?
Kind of like [Bm] that.
When you're the headline act, then you can start complaining to the trash in the dressing room.

There's nothing there to trash with.
How many times can you throw a couple of lemons against the wall?
And one nice thing about being an opening act, he's a great phenomenon.
He's [Am] the son of a politician.
If you had things to do over, would [Em] you do them just the same?
[Dm] Or would you maybe see yourself as [Am] just a player in the game?
And if Einstein's 2020, [Em] would it help you see at all?
[Dm] Would you never try the mountain?
[Am] Are you too afraid to fall?
And what would you do for the money?
[Em] What would you do for?
Would [Dm] you leave yourself with bands last?
Would [Am] you get yourself a guy?
