[N] Welcome back.
So, uh, that was a wonderful number.
I'm a fan and have a few of your albums.
How many albums do you have?
You have a lot, don't you?
Not counting bootlegs, 17.
Jeez.
Yeah.
And a lot of the same songs, you just sneak in there over and over again?
No, it scares me, because I used to have to go to record store when
I guess you know you made it when you have your own name on a file.
Yeah, when it says Buff?
Yeah, you got Buffett, yeah.
But when you're in the B's, I used to go in and take mine from the back and put them in the front.
When you're in the B band.
Alright.
But when you use your own name, that's a sign of success, I guess.
So then from there, it's 17 later.
That must be cool to walk in a record store and see that right there.
I stand right next to them like you do in the mall.
Yeah.
There were hard days there, you know.
We should go together and just [E] stand around.
Yeah, we could just go.
And then when they don't know who the hell we are, we can just, uh
We can go to Friday's and get a record.
Alright.
So you sail a lot, is that it?
And that's how you wrote that song?
Yeah, the last couple we lost, I was in Newport with Dennis on the Liberty [B]
adventure.
And they came, and a lot of the crew guys, they were very upset because the Australians then, I guess it was men at work, had to land from down under.
Which they would blare out of a big speaker, so once again, Rocky
You mean the guys on the boat play that?
Yeah, they played it before they go race.
And the theme from Rocky was getting a little bit old at that time.
How many causes have gone to that?
Right.
Do It In The Road was probably never played much on those boats.
[G#m] I don't even know
No, but, uh, so they wanted something a little more inspiring, so they asked me to write a song.
And until last night, we were undefeated since they got the fight song until we lost the race last night.
Oh, sorry.
Well, that's okay.
It's not like a funeral.
I mean, we'll come back.
They should put a motor on those things, probably speed them up a little bit.
Yeah, okay.
This way you have to rely on the wind and whatnot.
It seems like a huge handicap.
I mean, I [A#] don't know.
Well, they could train out at the beach out here, going [E] out to the marina out here if there's enough traffic.
So what was the name of that song?
Take It Back.
Right, to win back the trophy.
You got it.
See, I'm not here because I'm incredibly dumb, just moderately dumb.
Now, you live in Florida now?
Yeah, Key West.
Have you always lived in Florida?
I grew up in Alabama, and I moved to Key West about 18 years ago, yeah.
And did you record there and whatnot?
Because I would think it would just be very hard to live somewhere else and do 17 albums without living in either.
Well, there's recording facilities in Miami, but I liked living on the beach.
And for a while, it was very
it was nice because Key West was a haven for writers, most of them who were dead.
So I came, and I was
but I became the only famous living person in town for a while.
Right, right.
And then Calvin Klein moved to town and took the heat off me.
Right.
So I can sort of have a little anonymity these days.
But it's strange living on an island.
I mean, coming out here
it's funny, I was coming to work from the hotel, and you know, you drive through Bel Air and see security everywhere.
Armed response.
Right.
And now there's a movie, I think, called Armed Response.
And Key West, we have security, but my alarm went off, and I called up, and they answered, and I said, can you come to shut the alarm off?
They said, well, we're in Miami.
Which is how far?
How far is that?
150 miles away.
So I guess it's an all-computer network, but I said, well, what happens if a burger breaks in?
They said, well, that's not our problem.
You have to call a number in Key West.
Unless the burger lives over 150 miles away, in which case they can probably get a chance to
get
a mileage on their airfare or something if they come back.
So, advantage miles, huh?
For being a burglar.
I'm confused now.
Okay, now.
Would you
[N] you're going to sing a song about
you have another song that revolves around what would happen if you stopped singing, is that it?
I guess so, if it all falls down.
It's written by my drummer, Matt Betten, and it sort of revolves around that.
Longevity is not a big factor in rock and roll.
I mean, it's less than a running back in the NFL.
So, we've lasted almost 20 years, but again, I can cook and clean up.
You just turned 40, right?
On Christmas Day.
Christmas, one gift, huh?
We'd love to hear this song.
And happy birthday, too.

[D] somewhere around [G] page two.
[Bm] I live the perfect [Em] crime.
[Am] Crime pays [D] more than it used [B] to.
They check any [Em] evidence, maybe [Em] some charges pressed.
[A] The only one [D] they got me on is [G] some misdemeanor [Em] crazy.
[Bm]
[D] Oh, [G] if it all falls down, falls [C] down.

[Am]
We got plenty of doctors.
[G] We got plenty of lawyers.
[C] We've got people to make us think.
[G] We got people to sell us those things.
[Em] I never have an [G] approval to say.
[Am] I've built lots of self [G]-stories.
[C] Calypso for win [G] sure did.
[C] Calypso for [D] win sure did.
[G] [C] If [D] it all falls down, falls down, falls down.
If they solve my [C] life, if they find [G] me, I'll [D] tell the [G] doctor.

I have had my [C] fun, if it [G] all falls down.
If it all [F#] falls down, falls down, falls down.
I can charm this crowd till you snake dance round.
With [G]
Calypso beat down, island sound.
I can make you dance till you all fall [D] down.
If it all [Bm] falls down, falls down, [C] falls down.
If they [D] solve my [C] life, if they [G] find me, [D] I'll tell the doctor.
