And my name's Brian Matthew.
It's my pleasure each week to introduce the artists appearing in our Top of the Pop show.
And to open proceedings today, a bright [B] item from ex-surgeon [F#] Tony Jackson, now with his own group, Almost Dead.
See my baby today, I got 10 more miles on my way.
Yeah, I'll be feeling just one of those smiles, but all [E] I got is just [F#m] him on my [F#] hands.
It's gonna be [G#] a night of my life, I wanna stay, but [G#] I gotta see my
[F#] [G#]
[F#] baby, I [G#] gotta go [F#]
today.
[F#]
I feel a knife in my heart, and a way I fly.
I wanna see my baby right by my side.
[A] [F#] I'm gonna be the only girl [A] in my [F#] life.
[F#m] She's gonna be my [E] one, [F#] and [A] I can [G#] tell her from my [F#] heart.
I'm gonna stay, but [G#] I gotta see my baby.
[F#] [G#]
[F#] I got [G#] [F#]
10 [F#] more [F#m]
miles,
[F#] [F] [F#] and [G#] I got miles to my house.
[F#] I'm gonna stay, but I [G#] gotta see my baby.
I'm [G#] gonna love her everyday now.
[F#] I got one more,
[G#] [F#] [G#] I got two more miles.

And [N] there you heard the Tony Jackson group.
Right.
Well now let's have a word or two with Tony Jackson.
Tony, it's a long time since we heard [D] a record by you, and even [D] longer I think since you were in our studio.
And what have you [F#] been doing in the interim?
[D#] Well, we've been doing ballrooms around England, then we went abroad for a while to Norway and to Hamburg in Germany.
And while we were over there, we changed record labels, you know, and there was a lot of legal trouble and [C] whatnot.
And it took about six months to get the [D#] things sorted out, yeah.
So you finally did make one nevertheless.
Yeah, it's funny, this one we made was really only a [D] demo, it was a test thing we did for the new company.
And we did five other tracks as well, and they decided this was the most commercial out of the lot, so they released it, you know.
Where's the song from, do you know?
It's a British song, it was written by a chap who plays for Graham Gullman's group.
And he's a guitarist, and he wrote this song, you know.
And it's called?
You're My Number One.
[F#] Well, let's hope that [Dm] that's a sort of happy moment, shall we?
Will you do it for us now, Tony?
Yes, we will, yeah.
Okay.

Watch out, watch out
Listen to your baby
On the weekend, on the town
Keep your eyes wide open

You may be her lover
And you'll stay for a time
But never [F#] leave [E] your baby's side
[F#m] Never leave your [E] baby's side
Watch out, watch out
When I have something I have to say
She will always friends with my baby
In all my wedding days
She felt more than sweet and sour
There was nothing I could do
But sit and cry and wonder why
[F#m]
[E] Never [F#m] leave [E] your baby's side
[C#m] Don't leave [A] her alone
Cause [F#] when you get back she might [B] be gone
[E] Just watch out, watch out
So when you go out going
And there's none to be found
Keep in mind what I said
Don't let your foot go down
Another eye's on another thing in mind
[G#] So never [F#] leave [E] your baby's side
Never [F#m] leave your [E] baby's side
