Tosca oversize bass chimes bass tubular bells chords
Start Jamming...
Okay, here I am up a ladder with two oversized base tubular bells.
These are 3 inch diameter, they're made from aluminium.
I'm up at the top of the workshop here, about as close to the ceiling as I can get
so that this low F will actually hang here.
We've got an F and a B flat.
These are for Tosca by Puccini, some of the low bells in that.
I've got a wooden mallet here, relatively heavy,
a little heavier than a standard rawhide you'd use on a smaller set of tubular bells.
One face is normal hardwood, the other face is softened a little bit with a bit of leather.
Let's hear how they sound.

[G] That was with the softer face.
I'm going to get them a little brighter with the wooden face.
If we just swap around here.
This is a Thor, what is it, Thor X712.
[F#]
Fairly heavy metal mallet with nylon faces on it.
This gives a softer, warmer sound on these particular bells.
