Hey, I want to talk a little bit today about a kind of cool picking song.
John Barleycorn must die by traffic from the early 70s.
It's capoed at the 7th fret and done with relatively normal chords, but it's got this
really picking very similar to stuff like Here Comes the Sun and I forget what else
I've done that's kind of similar to this, but you have to pick out certain notes at a time.
So I'm just going to show you a little bit about the introduction and then we'll work
on some other details of it later.
It's [A] a D chord picked down on the 4th string, down on the 3rd string, up on the 1st string,
going up on the 2nd string and then down on the 3rd string.
It's a C [G] chord going down, up, down on the 5th string, then the 3rd string, then the 2nd string.
It's a G chord hitting the 6th string, 3rd [Ab] string, and 2nd [D] string.
Then a little picking pattern [Em] on the A minor.
[E] [Em] I'm going to get a tablature [N] up to this at our site if people are interested because
this is a song I'd like to get written out and have in a little more extensive lesson.
So if you're interested in checking out John Barleycorn Must Die or other cool rock and
roll songs, it's hard to call this one rock, this is more the progressive folk type category,
but come visit us at Totally Guitars and I'll be getting a lesson up to this if people put
some requests for it into the forum because I'm not sure yet what songs I want to do next.
Anyway at Totally Guitars we have discussion boards going on and there's a bunch of free
lessons up there and tips and tricks and techniques and things like that.
So all you have to do is come over and check into our place and let us know who you are
and what you'd like to see.
Thanks!
