_ Okay, so the second part of training the Marine.
Hey babe, you can come in.
_ So the second part of training the Marine _ is, we showed you the first part, which is_ _
[A] _ _ _ [Em] _ _ _ _ _
_ [C#] The second part is considerably more difficult. _
_ _ And the most important part about that is the technique on the left hand.
So it first starts off with [E] a pull-off, and it _ goes_
_ _ _ [B] _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _ [B] _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [B] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _ [E] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [A]
And [D#] what you want to make sure you do [Dm] is you get your hand [C#m] into this cord formation.
[E] So when you do your pull-off, one of the things you're going to notice is that _ this _ _ [A] finger
here, you would think you would do that slide with your third finger, because you've got
your first finger here, and this finger should be controlling this fret.
_ But in fact, in order to get into this cord position easily, you're going to [F] want to do
it with your second finger.
So with this bit of a reach.
[E] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [B] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [B] _ _ [A] _ _ And [N] all the while you're thumping down here.
I find it actually hard to do the consistent thumping when you're playing it this slow,
but you want to always have that consistent [E] thump.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [B] _ _ [A] _ _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[B] _ _ _ [A] _ _ [E] _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ And I do _ that_
Well, I try to do it.
I try to do _ _ _ [N] that last part, last bar, a little bit differently each time, so that it gives
it a little bit of something [E] different.
_ _ _ [A] _ _ [Em] _ _ _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ [B] _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ [B] _ _ _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _
[A] _ _ [E] _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [A] _ [E] So I'll do it a few times slower. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [B] _
_ [A] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [B] _ _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [N] And I apologize if that isn't slow enough for you.
_ Really, what you need to do is sit down _ with the tab, maybe slow it down using that program
that I mentioned. _ _ _
_ _ Because to play it slowly is actually quite [E] difficult.
_ _ _ [B] _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [B] _ _ [A] _ _ _ [N] But when you're watching me, the most _ helpful thing you can do is pay attention to where
my fingers are, because believe me, it took me a while to figure out where I wanted my
fingers to be so that they were as efficient as possible.
So I can play it fast.
I mean, the song is written in a very quick tempo, actually.
It's even difficult having [D#] practice at lunch to keep up with Bruce [E] Cooper.
