Okay, so the second part of training the Marine.
Hey babe, you can come in.
So the second part of training the Marine is, we showed you the first part, which is
[A] [Em]
[C#] The second part is considerably more difficult.
And the most important part about that is the technique on the left hand.
So it first starts off with [E] a pull-off, and it goes
[B]
[E] [B]
[A] [E]
[B] [E]
[A] [E]
[A]
And [D#] what you want to make sure you do [Dm] is you get your hand [C#m] into this cord formation.
[E] So when you do your pull-off, one of the things you're going to notice is that this [A] finger
here, you would think you would do that slide with your third finger, because you've got
your first finger here, and this finger should be controlling this fret.
But in fact, in order to get into this cord position easily, you're going to [F] want to do
it with your second finger.
So with this bit of a reach.
[E]
[B] [E]
[B] [A] And [N] all the while you're thumping down here.
I find it actually hard to do the consistent thumping when you're playing it this slow,
but you want to always have that consistent [E] thump.
[B] [A] [E]
[B] [A] [E]
[A] [E]
And I do that
Well, I try to do it.
I try to do [N] that last part, last bar, a little bit differently each time, so that it gives
it a little bit of something [E] different.
[A] [Em]
[E]
[A] [B]
[A] [B]
[E]
[A] [E] [A]
[E]
[A] [E] So I'll do it a few times slower.
[B]
[A] [E]
[B] [E]
[A]
[E]
[N] And I apologize if that isn't slow enough for you.
Really, what you need to do is sit down with the tab, maybe slow it down using that program
that I mentioned.
Because to play it slowly is actually quite [E] difficult.
[B]
[E]
[B] [A] [N] But when you're watching me, the most helpful thing you can do is pay attention to where
my fingers are, because believe me, it took me a while to figure out where I wanted my
fingers to be so that they were as efficient as possible.
So I can play it fast.
I mean, the song is written in a very quick tempo, actually.
It's even difficult having [D#] practice at lunch to keep up with Bruce [E] Cooper.
