[E] Hello, Hal here.
I'm going to show you a very simple song today, something that you can do as a beginner, and
even if you've been playing for a little while, you'll want to try this because it's something
that develops single notes on the guitar.
It's called Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
I know you're thinking, you're kidding, right?
But no, I'm not.
What we do is we play it on the E string, like this, open, and we go to the 7th fret,
and use your first finger, [B] [Em] like that.
Now what I'm doing is I'm actually touching the guitar, like this, with my fingers, and
plucking with my thumb right now.
[A] [E]
[F#m] [E] That's the first part of the song.
This song is in three parts.
We start on the 7th fret, [Bm] play that note twice, [A] and then five, twice, [G#] four, twice, and then
the second [F#] fret, and hold it, [B] and then do it again.
Seven, [A] five, [G#] four, [F#m] two, and [E] then we start over.
Open, [C#] seven, [Bm] nine, seven, [A] five, [G#m] four, [F#] two, [E] and open.
Okay, now I'm going to play it from the beginning, and I'll count it, and you play along with me.
Here we go.
One, two, ready, go.
[A] [Em] [D]
[G#m] [F#m] [Em] [B]
[A] [G#] [F#m] [A]
[G#] [F#] [Em]
[G#] [E] [G#]
[F#m] [E]
[B] And there you go.
Now, one way you can expand this is to play it on any string.
You can play it on the B string, [G#m]
[C#] [B] you can play it on the G string, [D] [Em] [C] [B]
[A] [Em] you can play it [D] on the
D string, [A]
or the A string, [E] or the low E string.
[B]
[F#] [E] There you go.
So, for you beginners, [C#] work on that, and get it down, and come back for another lesson soon.
