What's up guitar friends today, I'm going to show you how to play two dozen roses by Shenandoah
We're gonna play this with the capo on the second fret and there's a chord change for the instrumental and final chorus
I'll show you how to play that and if you want to learn the cool little intro lick
Let's get this one learned the [E]
[A] chord positions will play with the capo on the second fret are G
C add 9
[E] D and [F#m] E minor
For the intro you can just start out doing [F#m] down strums on each of these chords, so we'll go to minor [E] then D
Then C add 9 then D [A] then G and then we'll start our strumming on the G chord
Down up down up down up down up strum
If you want to play that intro lick [F#] here, I'll show you how to do that
So [E] [F]
we're starting just on the fourth and the third string so open [E] fourth string
Pick that hammer [F#] on second fret
[A] Then hit the third string open
[G#] Then third string second fret and we're going to slide up to the fourth fret
Then come back down to the second [B] fret
Pull off to open up the third [A] string
Then [G#] we'll go fourth string fourth fret then third [A] string open again
open again
Then fourth string open and hammer on to the fourth [G#m] fret then third string [A] open again
Second fret third [B] string pick that pull [A] off
Then we'll go to our sixth string third fret starting our G chord so one more time [F#] straight through slowly
[E] [A]
So starting out the first verse we're gonna go G C add 9 D back to G.
So here's how we play through the first verse
Brought flowers to your [E] door last night
[A]
Done you wrong and I won't make it right
[F#m] You say [A] I'm not well from [F#m] here I
Know it ought to be
[D] Perfectly clear, but I can't help [B] but wonder what it [A] might be like
[B] Down strum on that G and let that ring out to end the verse
Then we'll go up to the C add 9 to start the chorus and we'll start with just down strums C add 9
D [F#m] then E minor
If [D] I had two
Dozen roses and no
[E] bottle of wine
[F#m] If I really could [B] have hung
[E] To change
[A] If I could cry a [F#m] little harder
Little less [A] sleep at night if I had to
Dozen [E] roses will [A] change your mind
Then we'll go [F#m] play our intro again minor [E] then D
[A] Then C add 9 then D then G
To go into the next verse
Well, I must have been a fool back there
To [E] [A]
lose something you can't ever get
[F#m]
I've done [A] all that I know to do
Second [D] guess my every move
[A] But I can't help but wonder how it might [A] have been
If I had
[F#m] We'll play through the chorus again [B] here
We'll be coming out of the chorus on the G chord and then we're gonna go into our instrumental
And this is where we change keys, so we're gonna walk up to the D chord so we're gonna go fifth string open second fret
[D#] fourth fret and
Then [E] fourth string open and we'll start our D chord here for the key change the chords.
We're gonna need our D
[F#] E
[B] A [G#m] and F sharp minor
If you can't play that as a bar chord just play the fourth string
Third string second and first strings you can bar these three strings with your first finger instead of doing the full bar
[B] so for the instrumental we'll go [F#] D E
[G#m] F sharp minor D E
[F#] [B] A
then F sharp minor E
[E] E [B] A
You can let that a ring out there [E] before we go to the final chorus starting on the D chord
If I could cry a [G#m] little harder
[E] Get a little less sleep [B] at night
If I had two [E] Doug
roses would [B] change Oh
[F#] [E]
Change
[B] What I'm doing here, I'm going a then I'm opening up the second string
[F#] and D a
[E] D E [B] a this is how we're ending the [F#] song
Baby, would you [B] change?
my
