Hello this is Audreyn Guerrero and welcome to another Youth Minutes.
Ever wonder why chords just kind of [Eb] sound good together?
These chords [G] sound so good together.
Well this is a simple, very simple way of me explaining to you why certain chords sound good together.
So we're going to take our scale, say our C scale, right?
C, D, E, [A] F, G, A, B, C.
[D] So we're going to take all the notes in our C scale and we're going to give them numbers.
So 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, [C] 6, 7, 8.
[F] So number 1, 4, and 5 are going to be [A] major.
Okay?
And 1 [E] is the same thing as 8, so 8 is going to be major too.
[F] And 2, [E] 3, 6 are going to be minor.
7 is a diminished chord.
Okay?
So 1 is major, 2 is minor, [C] 3 is minor, 4 is major, 5 is major, 6 is minor, 7 is diminished, and 8 is major.
Alright?
So C, D [Em] minor, E minor, [F] F, [G] G, [Am] A minor, [B] B diminished, [C] C.
[C] That's your chord family in a C major scale.
So you can pretty much take these [N] and take any scale and figure out the scale and put them in this formula, you get your chord family.
