Start Jamming...
Hey everybody, this is Dilan again, and I have a new tutorial for you all.
Now this was originally a request from one of my Patreon supporters,
and I decided that was going to be a really good tutorial because it's
definitely [F] something you guys would want [Ab] to play.
And so this is Yellow Leadbetter by Pearl Jam.
And you can definitely play it on the ukulele.
Now,
[E] the chords of the song is pretty simple because all it is is just E,
B, [A] and A.
That's it.
Just [B] E.
[E] Now of course, there's the many ways you can play E.
Of course you can play, this is one, two, three,
this is the fourth fret up here.
[C] So of course you can play it with the G, C, and E strings all
held down on the fourth fret to give you [E] your E chord.
And of course for the last string you can either mute it,
or you can play
the seventh fret, the A string here on the seventh fret, to top it off.
Or I can go the other direction by [Gm] playing
by [Em] playing 4 4 4 and then playing the B down here.
[Am] Or do what I like [B] to do, which is just a, or E2, or for the purposes of this song,
just the [Gb] first three strings and then I use the
mute of my finger to just mute the A
[E] string so I can just get a
And it takes a bit of practice for all you young ukulele players out there.
You're giving ukulele players there.
Now this is crucial to play like this,
because the next notes [D] are
And [E]
[Ab] then
It's like you're starting to play a scale, but then you go to the
[G]
[E] [Ab] One
Now this is a hammer on, it's called like when you play a note and then you have [E] to
hit the note like you're
Like a hammer, right?
And then the next phrase up here, which is gonna go up to from 4 5 6 7th and
the 9th fret, the 7th and the 9th fret on the A and the E strings.
Another hammer on, so you and I pluck it here and then hammer on the 9th and then let go.
[Ab] Now it's important to hit that note as soon as you, the string sounds, so that note doesn't fade too far.
So the end effect should be
[Em] So [D] that first figure again, which is the
Because when you play that first
bit of yellow lead better, everyone knows what you're playing.
[E] [D]
Which is the most important part that you need to learn, because that's very
[B] That's the very very recognizable part.
And then just go down to B
major, which is just simply again
4th fret,
next string 3rd fret and
2nd fret, top two strings.
[Em] This is your B major.
[B] I tend to bar it like that, same effect.
And then let my little
finger play on the
top string on the 4th fret and
[Bm] then slide it down two frets.
[A] Slide that whole figure down two frets down to A.
[E] So your whole riff 2 3 4.
[B]
[Ab] [A] [E]
[B]
[A] [E]
And
that's how you play yellow lead better.
And then just play that riff over and over and over and over and over and over again
while Eddie sings songs about boxes.
And that's your 5-minute lesson for today kids.
Now you know how to play it, go
