Hello everybody, this is Cesar with the fourth exercise of our series for basic finger picking
and today what we are doing is putting a lot of elements together
the thumb, the index, the mid and the ring finger
descending, [Gm] ascending arpeggios in a very very simple [N] way
in a very beautiful song, a very simple song, very well known for all of you
which is the Unchained Melody from the Righteous Brothers
then what we are going to do is we are going to go through the song
it's a simplified version but you will see that it sounds exactly like the song
and by the way, forget my terrible singing but I just did it in order for you to follow the flow of the melody
with the different arpeggios
as always you are going to have the tab in the comment section and in the description section
and I hope you will enjoy the Unchained Melody
first let's take a look to the left hand
we are going to use five very simple chords
we are going to use [C] a C chord, then an [Am] A minor, then an [F] F major, [G] then a G major and then a G7 major
[A] ok, [C] again
[Am] C, A [F] minor, F [G] major, G major, G7 major
[Gm] and then the exercise, the song, goes like this
[C] [Am]
[F]
[G] [C]
[Am] [G]
[C]
[N] now, let's focus on the right hand
and it's very simple, during the whole exercise our index is going to be responsible of the third string
our mid finger of the second and our ring finger of the first [C] string
[N] and they are going to do a descending and ascending arpeggio
so, [G] [C] index, mid, ring, mid, [G] index
[C] and this is going to happen during the whole [G] song
then the thumb would hit [N] the fifth or the sixth string depending on the note that we are
now, let's start [C] with our C note
so, the thumb hits the fifth string and then they move with our index, mid, ring, mid, index like this
then we move to A minor and we do the same, [A] fifth string with the thumb
[Am]
and the same strings with our index, mid and ring
[N] when we move to F major is when the thumb hits the [F] sixth string
but our other three fingers stay where they are
[G] and when we move to G, again, the sixth string with the thumb
then we add the seventh to the G, but nothing changes for the right hand
sixth string with the thumb
[E] and if we put it all together
[C] ok,
[Am] [F]
[G]
[C] [Am]
[G]
again
[C] and C [Am] goes by so [F]
slowly
[G] and G can seven [C] so C
[Am]
[G]
I'm [C]
sorry for the terrible singing, but then you get the idea
[G] well, [N] I hope you have enjoyed
and as always, practice at the beginning slowly, slowly
and then you will get more confident with the index, mid and ring finger
and we are going to get complicating things a little bit more
in order to achieve more complex musical structures and more complex songs in our next videos
and up to that moment, as always, play your guitars, have fun and be good Bye
