Have _ you [G] seen that angel [E] hand?
_ [D] _
I've been hearing [A] it all over the land.
[D] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ Raining nights down [D] in the engine house. _
That was Ry Cooder's Vigilante Man, and we're going to be in open detuning for this [Eb] lesson.
So, verse by verse, let's start off with the intro, and that's going to go like this. _ _ _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ _
Okay, that's the first part.
[E] Now there's a lot that's happening here.
We're going to go up to the fourth fret, back down, and do a pull-off.
And that's one pluck, like [D] that.
Okay, very Blind Willie Johnson-esque. _
[A] And then back up to the fourth [D] fret.
_ So the bass comes in as we're sliding back up to the fourth fret on that first string.
So no bass for the first little bit.
_ There's the bass.
Now we're going to go first, [A] second string open, then the fifth string bass with the first string at the second fret.
Okay, so all of that together.
_ [D] _ _
[A] _ Now we've got this.
[D] _ _
_ _ Okay, so after this, [A] we're going to go back up to the fourth fret, do that pull-off again,
[C] and then go to the third fret, [Dm] up to the fifth fret on that second string.
If you don't get exactly [N] on that third fret, that's perfectly fine.
Three and a half works great [D] as well.
[C] One nice thing about slide is you don't need to be exactly over the fret sometimes, as with this song.
[Bb] You can be in between the frets, [A] and that'll work just fine.
[D] _ _ _ _
[Dm] And then he finishes it off by going up to the third fret on the [D] fourth string, and then open fourth, and then open sixth.
So all of that together we have_
_ _ [A] _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ _
Alright.
_ _ _ [A] _ _
[D] _ _ _ Now we're going to go to the fifth [G] fret.
So we're just going to basically bar with our slide.
Six, five, four, three.
_ [F] Same with the third fret.
Back up to the fifth.
