I wonder [D#] where you are Vicki Carr.
Well that's kind of an inside thing there.
With us about a year ago I was on Glen Campbell's show, June and I, Vicki Carr, a bunch of folks.
Came time for Miss Vicki to come on but we couldn't find her.
We didn't, she didn't know
that we were looking for her.
Well she had a little problem with her hairdresser or somebody.
And believe me she's not one to cause people problems because ever since she hit this town
of Nashville she's caused nothing but smiles and love and happiness from everybody that she's run
into.
Let's make welcome one of the finest voices I ever heard, one of the finest ladies, Miss Vicki Carr.

[A]
Well I woke up Sunday morning [D] with no way to hold my [A] head that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for [F#m] breakfast wasn't bad [E] so I [D] had one more for dessert
[C#m] [E] Then I fumbled through my closet for [D] my clothes and found my [A] cleanest dirty shirts
[F#m] [D] And I washed my face and combed [Bm] my hair and stumbled down the [E]
stairs [D] to meet the [C#m] day
[E] [A]
Well I smoked my brain the night [D] before with cigarettes and songs [A] that I'd been singing
But I lit my first and watched a [F#m] small kid [E] cussing at a can [D] that he was kicking
[C#m]
[A] Then I crossed the empty street and [D] caught the Sunday smell of someone [A] frying [G#] chicken
[F#m]
[A] [D] And it took me [Bm] back to something [D] that I'd lost somehow somewhere along the way
On the Sunday [D] morning sidewalk wishing [A] Lord that I was stoned
Cause there's [E] something in a Sunday that makes a [A] body feel alone
And there's nothing [D] short of dying as [A] lonesome as the sound
[E] On the sleeping city sidewalk Sunday [A] morning coming down
In the park I saw a [D] dead with a laughing little girl [A] that he was swinging
[A] Then I stopped beside a Sunday school [F#m] listened to the [E] song [G#] that they were singing
[C#m] [E] [A] Then I headed back for [D] home and somewhere far away a lonely [A] bell was ringing
[F#m] [D] And it echoed [Bm] through the canyons [E] like the disappearing [A] dreams of yesterday
On the Sunday [D] morning sidewalk wishing [A] Lord that I was stoned
[E] There's something in a Sunday sure makes a [A] body feel alone
And there's [D] nothing short of dying as [A] lonesome as the sound
On [E] the sleeping city sidewalk Sunday morning [A] coming down
On the Sunday [D] morning
[A]
sidewalk wishing Lord that I was stoned
Cause there's [E] something in a Sunday oh it makes [A] you feel alone
On [D]
[A] the
[E] sleeping city sidewalk

Welcome I bet if Chris Christopherson's watching tonight he's one happy man
I hope so Johnny I really do listen I want to explain something about that Glenn Campbell show
boy okay well you know when they do Glenn's show they tape the dress rehearsal and that number that
we did was the finale right right okay so I was wearing a fall and my hair was a fallish fake
hair it's like wearing a toupee you know and so when we did the actual taping of the show
rather than them changing around everything they left it that way and they were going to do the
finale first but there was one problem nobody told me about it so my hair was wet and it was
up and rolling and it wasn't dry and I'm at the dressing room and I'm hearing somebody saying
I wonder where you are Vickie that's her story Glenn
