We're so happy to be here.
We're Bichten and we're from the East Coast of Canada.
[N] Actually, we were here this summer for the wonderful festival.
We just had a great time, so we're happy to be back.
[Gm] It's our first, well, second time [B] playing, the first time playing here, the Hawaiian Moon Saloon.
So [D] we're Bichten, from two islands, from the East Coast of Canada, [B] Prince Edward Island and the Magdalene Islands.
Has anybody been to [C] one of those places?
[F#]
No?
[G] Okay.
[B] It's very exciting.
[D#m] Yes.
[C#]
[C#m] For those [B] who don't know, P.I. is the smallest province of Canada.
[N] And the Magdalene Islands are probably the smallest islands of Canada.
They're [Gm] part of Quebec.
But there's seven of them.
There's seven [B] islands.
You have to take [G] a boat from the East tip of Prince Edward Island.
It takes [N] about five hours to go up north.
And that's where Pascal is from.
And me and Emma are from a small Acadian region on Prince Edward Island called the Région Magdalene.
So we're from the French Acadian tradition.
There's lots of people that play music, fiddle, dancing.
There's traditional singing.
And we all grew up playing music.
So we're going to share a bit of our culture with you tonight.
We hope you have a great time with us.
So we're going to continue on with a song.
A song that talks about a woman who's [B] cheating on her husband.
[C#m] And she decides to bring her new boyfriend back home to her place.
Which is not [D] a great idea, but she does it anyways.
And the [A] husband comes home and he feels like something's going on.
So he walks up the stairs.
He opens up the bedroom door.
And he finds his wife sitting on the bed.
And [F] there's this big bundle under the blankets.
[A#] So he asks his wife, what's under there?
And she says, well it's a [G#m] hen laying [G] eggs.
And we mustn't disturb her.
[B] So of course he doesn't really believe her.
So he decides to take a peek and that's very fun.
It's what we call in French, le matou.
Which translates into a male [G] cat or a man that sleeps with other people's [D] wives.
So, yeah.
So, enjoy.
[G] He tells the, actually he tells the man never to come back [N] to his house to lay his eggs.
So, le matou.
