Hey guys, I'm Tara with Tara Simon Studios and today I'm gonna be reacting to Bruno Mars [Ab] cover of Adele's All I [Bb] Ask in Da Live Lounge.
Here we go.
[B] [E]
[Bm] [E]
[B] [E] [Abm]
[A] [Gb] [B] Simon, any of your problems?
[E] [Abm]
I'm not [A] scared of what [Abm] is coming next.
I'm scared of having [Ab] nothing left [Dbm] but dawn.
Can't be wrong, I know.
[Abm] There is no [Gbm] tomorrow.
[Db]
I'm [E] losing.
This is [Db] my last [Db] night.
[Gbm] Little bit of [A] strain going on.
His last night.
I know he's distracted by his in-ear.
[E] That was great.
[F]
[Ab] [Gbm] That's hard.
[Gb]
[E] [Abm]
[Dbm] [Gbm]
[B] [E] It's really high.
Bruno is known for singing so high, right?
But this is [Db] up there.
I know he's having some in-ear issues.
Little bit [A] of pitch problems, little bit of strain leading with the chin.
[E] I [Ab] wanna just take note of what he just did there.
When he went [Abm] off the mic and did a run, a lot of times if things aren't going well, and I do this myself,
if things for some reason aren't going well, like if there's something wrong in-ear or if I just don't feel like my voice [N] is gelling the way I anticipated it to gel during a live performance,
to take the pressure off of sounding in the mic where everyone can hear and calibrating that way,
in the break if I have a chance, and just like he did, I will either turn around, face the band,
and do some sort of hard thing that I think I might be scared to do in the mic just to test it real quick without it being amplified,
or I'll turn my head and just do a quick whoo or something to kind of reset and [D] refocus and then get back to my mic [E] and do it again.
So if you're [Ab] performing live, that's a great thing to do and that's a really smart thing that he just did.
It sort of takes the pressure off.
Okay, let me refocus my voice, let me get back to what I know, and now let me give it to them in an amplified form.
That was good.
[Abm]
[B]
[Abm] That was beautiful.
[E]
[Dbm] That's hard.
Those closed mouth vowels, like oohs, hard to stay [Gbm] high.
[E] [B] [E]
[Db] Nice open vowel there.
[Gbm] I [Gb] would have done more of a yo there instead of a you.
It would have been a little easier on him.
[E]
[F] [G] Nice.
[Gbm]
[A] [Gb] [E]
[Abm] [Dbm] A little flat there.
[Gbm] There he goes.
There it is.
[Em]
Nice.
[A] [Gbm] Still messing with that in-ear.
[Gb] [Abm] Nice.
[Ab] [Dbm] Yes.
[Gbm] Amazing.
[B]
[F] [D] [F]
Nice.
[D] [Am] [Gm]
[C] [F] Yes.
[D] Yes.
[Gm] Oh, [C] that was great.
[F]
[D] [Bb]
[Dm] [Gm] [C]
Yes.
There he is.
Oh my goodness.
[Db]
[Eb] [F]
Yes.
[Ab]
[Eb] That's great.
That's great.
Okay, so I don't know if you guys realized this or not, but he was singing, I'm like 99.9% sure without [D] triple checking, but he was singing in the same key Adele sings this song in.
So yeah, that little mic throw that he did at the end, yeah, he deserved to do [Ab] that.
That's crazy.
So Bruno's a guy, Adele's a girl, clearly that's something [D] that is a key that's a key made for a female voice.
He did such a great job at executing those highs [Eb] as a male voice singing in a key for a female.
[Ab] It was really, really impressive.
Bruno's got a crazy high range.
He's got great vocal flexibility.
[N] Yeah, there's times, especially in live performances, and especially when you're singing a girl's key where there's some [Ab] strain, you know, you can see some forward chin leading and stuff.
But [N] really, I mean, a very difficult song and very minimal background help.
I mean, there were some harmonies, but it's not like there were huge vocal breaks that modulated, [C] you know.
So really, really impressive.
Always love Bruno [A] Mars and the Hooligans.
They're so great.
And this was a really impressive cover for me because of the whole key thing.
[Bb] It's kind of astounding that he didn't bother changing the key.
He was just like, yeah, I'm [Ab] gonna leave it as Adele's key and do that cover.
So very impressive.
Thank you so much for asking me to review it, guys.
Live performances are amazing.
I love reviewing them the most because I can really give you guys the most constructive [G] criticism so that when you're watching, you can learn.
And there are so many of you guys.
You say, oh, I'm a closet singer or I'm a secret singer, and I'm learning [Ab] so much even from your YouTube [N] videos.
Or some of you have said, I'm not a singer at all, but for some reason, I just can't stop watching your reaction videos.
That's so sweet.
That means so much to me.
