Vocal Coach Reacts to Superfruit - Rise (Katy Perry Cover) chords
Start Jamming...
Hey guys, I'm Tara with Tara Simon Studios and today I'm gonna be reacting to Superfruit
They're gonna be covering a Katy Perry cover called Rise.
I've never seen this before
I have no idea what's about to happen, but you're gonna see my reaction.
Here we go
[Gb] Very dramatic black background
[Ab]
[Bb] [Ebm]
I [Gb] won't just run [B] for it never gets old seeing that guy and then hearing his mouth open
It's like another person is in there.
I swear it's weird and awesome
[Gb]
Gorgeous
[Ab]
[Bb] [Eb]
[Ebm] [Db] [Eb] [B]
So pretty
[Gb]
Gorgeous
[Bb]
[Ebm] Beautiful
[Gb] [B]
Totally different chamber of sound right?
[Gb] Interesting.
Nice placement.
That's what I want to hear
[Bb]
[D] [Ebm] Or just vowel and rise
[B]
[Gb]
[N] So you see how when he goes
how his tongue comes before his bottom teeth instead of and
that creates tension and
When your tongue is laid against the top of the bottom of your teeth right there
That relaxes the throat and the [E] tongue and it creates a really [F] nice open sound.
He did a great job with that
I really enjoy [Gb] that
[Bb] [D]
[Eb] [B]
[Gb]
[Bb]
[Ebm]
[B] [Gb]
Not a huge fan of fight going to the diphthong [N] there just fight it it's very poppy I get it it's a choice
It's not really wrong.
But for me, I would have preferred just fight it just fight it to make fight fight instead of two syllables fight
fight one syllable
[Bb]
[Ebm]
[B]
Did you see his tongue?
[Ebm] Watch one more time.
You'll see what I was talking about with the other guy right here
Right there
[Gb]
[Bb]
[Ebm]
[Db] [B]
When you make the [Db] final
[Gb] Nailing day
Think again
[Bb] Don't be surprised
I [D] will [Ebm] still rise
Don't go and don't go and
[Gb] Don't go and don't go and
You're [B] going you're going
[Gb] I can see it
Just fight it just fight it
Beautiful
[Bb]
[Dm] [Gb] Rise
[Bb] [Eb] [Bb] [Ebm]
Rise
[Eb] [Abm] Rise
[Bbm]
[B] [N] Rise
So they're acapella.
They're awesome.
It sounds great
It's just as important to end a note well as it is to go through a note
Well, and there's I mean you can tell that they've pre-recorded this and they're doing a live
Visuals to it, which is fine, right?
So I will say also that when I make these notes about like oh
Like they could have opened their jaw here more they could have dropped like that's not exactly what they did when they recorded
I don't know what they did when they recorded this is not a
100% live they recorded in the studio and they're they're singing to it kind of like a music video right now.
Okay
Secondly when you go and you sing an acapella note in tandem with harmonies
That note I'm talking about all of those repeats
You want to be in time when you sing the S I should hear 1s not 5s
And there have been a couple times in these
Repeats where I've heard and that's not great
So we're gonna go back now that I've put your attention to it so that you can hear what I'm talking about
[Bbm] [Ab]
[Bbm]
Okay,
[N]
so really for the most part an awesome performance
It's very powerful when you have just [Bb] really simplicity, right?
Like it was a black backdrop and a bunch of people coming in and out edited together really nice
You know anybody that wants to do this [N] and do it excellently
You could do that on a low budget really
I mean that couldn't have cost a whole lot of money to do but it got a really great reaction because what it does is
It focuses me to what I should be paying attention to right?
I should be paying attention to their faces
I should be paying attention to how it sounds those two things are really all there after you paying attention to and that's exactly what
Came across because there wasn't anything else going on.
So if you're looking to hear
Covers like this then they did an [Ab] excellent job at getting you to listen to what they wanted you to listen to right?
[D] Definitely caught my attention very interesting mixture of talent, too.
I really enjoyed the different
[Abm] The different sound and the different timbres that every singer brought to the table
Not one of them was very similar to the next right?
Especially the guy who goes really high.
I mean man, he's like [D] from outer space
He's got a really great voice and I mean when when he makes a sound I just don't [N] expect it
I don't expect that sound to come out of him.
I expect it to be a higher tenor, but not like that
And that's that's really awesome
So thank you so much for suggesting that that superfruit rise by Katy Perry
And if you like what you saw subscribe because we do all of these are gonna be trying to release I think like three videos
A week.
I got to buy a lot of clothes
Changes so I'm super excited to give you your request guys
So make sure that you're writing them in the comments box below if you want some specific help
You're welcome to get some time by clicking on the link below for sessions.
I'm also rolling out an eight-week course
It's got a lot of interesting modules all in on it about the preliminary foundation of what my methodology is
Which is called singing smarter not harder and everything that I'm telling you about my reaction to these guys is exactly
Congruent with what I teach in lessons and with what the eight-week course has to say.
So thanks
