Start Jamming...
I remember when I first started with walking bass.
I was playing in a jazz blues jam session, and my future teacher was instructing me.
He showed me some lines, and I was really excited at the fact that I was actually now walking bass.
Admittedly, I only knew one or two lines, but I took those lines home, and I expanded
them and worked on them to come up with my own lines.
Two months after the jam session, I auditioned for the ANU School of Music, and to my shock
and horror, was accepted.
I'm telling you all this to make a very important point.
If you want to get better at walking bass, you really have to put the effort into it.
Learn a couple of lines, write them down, and try to work on them to come up with new ideas.
Listen to great bass players, and copy what they do.
You only get out what you put in, so make sure that you're walking bass as much as you can.
Beautiful Love is another one of those classic jazz songs.
It's perhaps not as popular as, say, Autumn Leaves or All The Things You Are, but it still
gets caught on gigs.
From now on, I'll no longer be discussing the chords and their construction in this series.

I have prepared a two-chorus, 64-bar walking bass line for this lesson.
If you'd like a copy of this bass line, there is a PDF file in the description to this video.
That's all for now, and until the next lesson, take care.
