Start Jamming...
When we first started playing together, because of the respect, I know for me I'm such a huge fan
that I'm very careful in the beginning to, you know, I don't want to step on any toes or anything.
When Morin's playing, it's much more of a kind of I'm sitting there just checking it out.
But what's happened over time is that it's kind of changed from you take a solo, then I take a solo.
Each time we play together, it's gotten to be a little bit more like we're playing at the same time.
It's come closer and closer to simultaneous conversation.
And I can actually point to moments when this happened.
We did a show at Jones Beach that time when we were soloing and it was kind of like four and then four.
And then all of a sudden we were on top of each other.
And I couldn't really tell where one person was leading off and the other was.
And I've only had that experience with, in terms of guitar players, with a couple of other people.
One of them would be Carlos, who I've played with before.
He does that.
But you don't know where one solo ends and another one begins.
But Warren and I have been, to me, moving more and more in that direction.
When we did that thing down in Asheville, now I feel like we're completely open.
And, you know, I can be playing a phrase and he'll tail off the end of it.
And then we jump together and we're both playing little harmonies and then one other person.
It's really cool.
Yeah, and it's much more exciting than just one person playing.
I think when you can do that sort of [F] thing, it's very dimensional.
[G] You get into this space where you're really just kind of holding [E] on.
If you start thinking, you're sunk.
Yeah.
You know, you're just kind of like listening so intently that you're [Bb] like, you know, half a second [F] behind your brain or something.
[Gb] And the music benefits from that.
You start giving too much thought to it, the ship will start sinking.
And we've had that kind of thing happen several times.
And you definitely get caught up in the moment.
And it reaches this peak where you go, wow, what was that?
I'd love to hear that back in about a month and figure out what it was.
