In today's podcast I want to show you a clip from my new Warren Haynes lessons.
These lessons will show you how to play in the style of Warren Haynes by teaching you
licks, solos, and techniques such as pre-bending, bending with anchor, bending two strings at
once just to give you a grasp about how to go about playing like this legendary blues
guitar player from the Allman Brothers Band.

Ok, [A] [A]
[F#]
[A] [E] [A]
[G#]
now I'm going to break down the Soul Shine style solo in the key of A for you into 20 separate licks.
Let's go ahead and start off with lick number one.
And what's happening in lick number one, I'm just going to show you how to perform it and
where to come in, the timing, the technical things you need to keep in mind, and how to
apply this lick and why it works here.
So it starts out, you're going to listen to the click track and right on beat one you're
going to come in and it's going to have 1, 2, 3, 4, we're bending the 12th fret of the B string.
This is right here in the B.B. King position, so bending the 12th fret up a full bend.
I'm also putting a rake here.
Now hit 10 and 12 on the high [Bm] E string, [G#] bend 12th fret on the B string, pull it down, hit
[F#] 12th fret twice.
[A] Now we're going to slide into the 11th fret of the [F#] G string,
[B] hit the 10th fret twice on
the B string.
Now bend 12th fret on the B string, now 10 and 12 on the high E string, bend 12, pull
it down, [Em] hit 12, [A#] 10, 12.
[B]
Now we're going [B] to bend, pull it down, pull off to 10, [F#] 11, and then 10.
So I'm going to play the lick one more time for you, a little bit slower than regular speed.
1, 2, 3, 4, ending [Bm] [B]
[Bm] [A]
[G#] on the root note A right there.
So what's happening, why does this lick sound good?
We're using the major pentatonic scale, but more importantly, the position that I'm using
is the B.B. King position in the key of A.
Root note on [F#] the 10th fret, that's your B.B.
King spot.
[A]
[G] So all those notes are going to sound really good when playing over this Soul Shine style track.
So that is lick number one.
