[Ab] This is the GuitarMadeEasy.com guitar lesson for Waylon Jennings, good old boys, the [Abm] Dukes
of Hazzard theme song.
And this [N] one goes out to a buddy of mine, Angus.
Angus, you requested this one, I hope you like it.
Okay, so first off, make sure your guitar is in [E] standard E tuning.
[Bm] Then take your [Gb] capo, put it on the first fret like so.
Alright, and this song has a signature bass line that goes along with it.
So [C] the bass makes this song [G] and the guitar.
The bass you can hear over the guitar.
So what I've done is I've combined the bass line and the guitar part into one, okay?
[Gm] The guitar in the actual recording just plays this.
[F] It goes E, [Bb] A, [F] G, B, E.
[N] And it's just down up the whole time, just down up, down up,
down up, down up.
However, what I've done is [G] I've combined the bass line and that guitar part, okay?
And it sounds a little bit more like the Dukes of Hazzard theme to me at least.
So this is how I [F] play it, okay?
So it goes, [Bb]
[F]
okay?
[Bb] So [A] it was the same guitar chords, but what I did was I did this plucking [Gm] pattern.
And what I did here is I'm going to show you [E] is I did kind of this country bass note picking.
[F] So the chord progression once again is E.
Just a good old [Bb] boys, never meanin' no harm.
A.
Beats all you, [F] E.
Beats all you ever so been in [C] trouble with.
B.
With the law since the day [Cm] they was born and [F] I'm born to go back to E.
All right?
[G] So E, A, E, B, back to E, [C] okay?
And now instead of just strumming through those chords, what [G] I do is this.
When I'm on E, I [F] pluck the E string open and I go.
So pluck the E string open, then I strum it down up.
And then I pluck [C] the A string [F] and I do down up.
So I go E, A, E, A, [Eb] and there's down up strums in between each pluck, [F] okay?
So pluck, down up, pluck, down up, pluck, down up, pluck, down up.
All right, that's when I'm on the [Bb] E chord.
The A chord, I make an A chord.
What I do now is I pluck the A string open, down [F] up, then the E string open, [Bb] down up.
A.
So A string down up, E string down up, A string down up, E string down up.
That's kind of [F] like a tongue twister.
I go back to E.
Same plucking pattern.
And then I do [G] B, and this is how I pluck B.
I make a B bar chord and I'm using this finger to kind of go back and forth.
[C] So right now I first pluck the B note which is on the second fret A string.
So I go, whoop.
And then I [G] take my pointer finger and I take that and
I move that down to the third fret E string.
[C] So [G] it goes.
[Db] All right, but I have the down up strums in between.
So [G] this [F]
is what you sound like.
[Bb]
[F]
All right, so that time I hit a D.
Yeah, [G] which I shouldn't have.
[N] So whoops, my bad.
All right, and the other part of the song, the chorus, the,
making their way, the only way they know how.
That's just a little bit more than the law will allow.
So the whole time it's B.
It [C] just goes.
So, making their way, the only way they know how.
That's just a little bit [G] more than the law will allow.
[F] Back to E.
You good old boys, never meaning no [Bb] harm.
[C] It's all you never saw [C] in trouble.
The law's the daily [F] with the horn.
[G] Okay, so that's it.
[E] All right, the one other thing I'll show you is if you decide to just
strum through it and not do the individual picking pattern [G] that I showed you.
If [F] you're just going.
[Bb]
[G] All right, what you can do for that chorus, the making their way,
is you basically just do the B [C] chord, just so.
You go.
The only way they know how.
That's just a little bit more than the [F] law will allow.
Good old boys, never meaning [Bb] no harm.
It's all [F] you never [C] saw in trouble.
The law's the [F] daily with the horn.
[N] All right, so that's it.
Angus, I hope you liked it, buddy.

And now instead of just strumming through those chords, what [G] I do is this.
When I'm on E, I [F] pluck the E string open and I go.
So pluck the E string open, then I strum it down up.
