_ I'm thankful that I was raised in a home where I learned about [F#] Jesus and good music.
My parents taught us about [G#m] that.
And [F#] I thought when I accepted Christ [B] at five, that I was just [F#] gonna have this simple, easy [B] life.
Kind of struggle [F#] free, right?
All the way up to heaven. _
Not so much.
[G#m] _ _ [F#] Because see, there's a real enemy out there.
[B] And he hates the things of God.
And so when I got to my teenage years, he came after me with full force.

And long story short, all [G#m] the things I said I would never [F#] do, one by one, they just fell away like dominoes.
And in my quest to be loved [B] and accepted by [F#] man, _ _ I went down some dark roads, y'all.
By the [G#m] time I was all said and done, I was [F#] in and out of five drug treatment [B] centers.
_ I was dealing dope [A#m] to support my [F#] habit.
I was in and out of jail. _
But the worst of it was that mental torture that came over my mind.
The anxiety _ was so heavy.
There were some days it was so unbearable that I really thought, how am I gonna keep going?
And [G#] I started to contemplate just being [F#] done with it all. _ _
That's just real talk.
_ All I can tell you is this.
_ When I thought for sure that God had washed his hands clean of me and he thought, I'm done with that one.
When I felt so nasty, [B] so unlovable, _ that [F#] is when _ the Lord God Almighty got down in the pit with me.
_ And he said, hey, _ I got different plans for you.
He reminded me of my destiny. _
And he pulled me up out of that pit.
[C#] _ I'm not [F#] a perfect man, but to the glory of God, _ Lord willing, day by day, this May, I'm gonna get to celebrate 32 years of being clean and sober.
Come on, man.
_ That's a miracle.

_ _ _ So I don't know where you are tonight.
I know [F#] there's some stories in this place about the faithfulness of God, right, and what he's done.
I know it.
But I [B] also know _ there's some people in some serious pain here [G#] tonight.

You might not even believe in God, but he believes in you.
And you are not here by accident.
So what I would [B] just love if we could, as a body, [F#] do is call out to the Spirit of God.

And he can meet people where they are.
