Start Jamming...
My whole life, I've been waiting on this guy.
[G] I don't know [Bm] what you've been [A] through.
I don't [D] know what I'm [G] saying about you.
I don't know what's [A] the real you.
There's a kind [D] of love that I [G] don't know.
Is this the way to [Bm] walk?
[A]
Hey Matt!
[D] [Em] This won't be as [Gb] attractive and appealing to you as it is to us.
If you look closely, there's [Bb] a rope right there.
[Bm] There's a chain ladder [B] tucked away in there.
And then there's a walkway.
And there's a strap-in platform at the front.
[N]
Which we are going [B] to stand on.
It's amazing how tall the ceiling has to be for [Bm] us to have good height.
This is lower [B] than rehearsals.
Great stuff.
[C] This [N] is the first time you've actually seen it all together.
This [B] was one of the fun parts of designing this.
To have a center area for [Bb] special guests.
I think there's [Gb] 61 of them that can fit in there.
[Db] [B] Wow.
[E] You and I shouldn't sing that much today during rehearsal.
[B] I don't know about you, but my voice is tired after rehearsal.
It's the most intensive vocal show I've [G] ever done.
We were doing five shows in a row.
Two [Eb] hours of jabbering and singing a night.
It's a lot.
You might wonder where [Ab] Luke is.
[N] Because this is kind of a Where's Waldo thing.
Where's Luke?
You never know.
You can't give any of this away, Mitchell.
We still are safety conscious, but [B] this is all very complicated.
How do you feel out there?
[Ab] Yeah, we're good.
Yeah?
Yeah, it's good.
That's his apprehensive response.
[A] You can [Gb] take your time.
[A] [Dm]
[A]
[D]
[E] [Gb]
[Am]
This [Dm]
[G] is
[Am] Michigan, [N]
so this is night number two.
We didn't start loading until midday.
We got in at close to noon, and we usually would be here at eight.
So we're a [B] multiple of hours late, [G] and it's only the second [N] show of the tour.
So it's a lot to get done in a short amount of time.
You've got your boys, the crew, needing some help.
You come up here and you try and help people out.
But this guy right here is not treating me kindly.
These things are the things that connect all of the LED walls.
Really, at the end of the day, see that little piece of metal there?
The extension out?
That's what's holding all of these things up in the air.
It essentially makes it so that's not going to hurt me.
Millimeters.
And last time they set this rig up, it took them 13 hours just to get the LED sails into the air.
You can't do anything else on the stage while they're sitting on the stage.
So you have to configure them, check them, raise them,
and then all the banger and all the lighting and everything else [Ab] goes onto the stage.
Crew guy Joel [Db] here.
He's the real man to assemble the LED sails.
What we're doing here [Gb] today, basically did that whole thing single [Ab]-handedly
with about seven or eight other people.
This is what it takes to [Gb] put on a king and queen and county, country, whatever they're called.
[C]
[G] The lonely walk back to a [B] dressing room.
There's always stuff going on [Gb] out there.
You get [Bm] behind everything and everybody's quiet.
[Gbm] We've [Gb] just used up all of our words and all of our voices.
We are [Ab] in Chicago today.
See a center and this is our [E] kind of visual [Ab] [G] Santa's workshop when it comes [B] to the [Dm] visuals.
[C] I think that's really, I think there's something really kind [Am] of emotive for whatever reason about [C] that.
Light shooting more through the windows.
[Bb] [Dm] [D] And social.
[F] [Bb]
[F] [G] [Bb]
[F] [Gm] [Bb]
[G] [Bb]
[B]
[N] [Db] Good morning.
My eyes might be a bit puffy still.
It's only 930 and you might wonder why I'm eating [Ab] this cashew milk ice cream at this point in [B] the day.
Well, let me tell you a little bit of a story.
Once upon a time, the band for king and country was in a land [G] called Illinois
and they were so [B] excited because at that time they were going to get on a magical bus to another land called Tennessee where they all lived.
[Gb] It's sort of like the Shire and all of their friends and all of their families were going to come
and they were going to sing songs together for months now.
Everyone's been so excited.
I've been so excited [B] about this.
And here I am at 930 AM [Em] and that is because our bus broke [B] down and it's about to rain.
We're still five and a half hours away from Nashville.
And so our tour manager and one of my brothers went to get a box truck and a 15 passenger van
and we've got to unload all the band gear with my mom and my dad and my godson from the back of the bus.
Get in it, drive as quickly as we can to Nashville, set up as quickly as we can with not a lot of sleep
and play our show in our hometown.
Perspective is a funny thing, isn't it?
You know, it just adds to the adventure.
[E]
We have done it.
Five and a [A] half hours.
Three hours till [E] showtime.
[F] Alright, so this is quite a moment.
We [Bbm] made it, guys.
My family's here, my in [F]-laws are here.
These are so many familiar faces, so many [Cm] loved ones.
This is one of those moments that [F] you want to take a [Bb] snapshot [Db] of.
I just want to say this is the team.
[D] There is no individual, there is no kingpin [Bb] in the King country.
[Fm] It is people that [A] believe in something greater than ourselves, [Dbm] believe in the power of music
and believe in partnership.
[F]
I wish I could go [B] through cheering the show and mention every one [Db] of you by name.
Thank you very much.
[A]
[G] [Bm] [A]
[D] [G] [Bm]
[D] [G] Thank you, Nashville!
