[C] It's kind of just a big experiment.
[B] I've always just been [Eb] a beat maker basically, I do [E] stuff
in my [G] bedroom.
[Bm] So that was really exciting for me to work with a really good [Dm] drummer.
Playing [B] live instrument, [Eb] I felt [E] like my domain.
[Em] It's how I record myself.
A lot of the [D] records I'm listening to these days are [Em] old soul records, you know [Eb] Marvin [Em] Gaye,
Aretha Franklin.
And I [E] love the way these records [Bm] sound sonically and I think that's come out [A] in
this record.
Kind of like recording techniques and [Bm] stuff I've nerded out [Abm] quite a lot.
Collaboration
brings out a different energy.
[Bm] When I'm working with someone, just them [G] being present in the room
will bring out something different in my sound.
[E] Tom said it was no right or wrong way.
So I feel
[Abm] like there's been different influences that have come in and taken it to a different direction.
Which I think was the beauty of the project.
Because a lot of the [E] tracks are made up from
[Db] jams, they have a kind of rawness and [Fm] live feel that you wouldn't get with a band [Db] tracking to
a song that's already [Cm] written.

[A] [E] The first time [B] I ever saw Yusuf was [Ab] about 15 years ago in like a school talent show.
I have a [Ab] memory of seeing this guy play drums, [C] thinking wow this guy's [Ab] insane.
I kind of put two and two [Em] together while we were working on this [B] record and I think that [A] was Yusuf.
[Ab] We started jamming, [Eb] you know, [F] in the same inn.
It was only a matter of [B] time really I think.
[Dbm] I'm pro working with other [Ab] top musicians man.
I need to play with the best because I know it's gonna push me.

[D] Something me [G] and Yusuf have in common is that both [Bm] our dads were quite pushy when I was [E] like five.
He'd force me to play the violin and I hated that.
My dad was one star.
He threatened to throw the drum kit with me in practice for a day.
But now you just give thanks, innit?
[Bm] That's the blessing of where you come from.
[Gbm] I was born in South East London.
I've lived here for 24 years.
[G] It probably has shaped my [A] music.
[G] For me it hasn't been a big influence.
That's the beauty of South London, so many different people that come from around the world that are in this one [D] place.
It's a big moment.
