[Bm] This video is for James Gardner [A] and his friend.
This is a tutorial for Franklin Bradley and
Mays, While I'm Alone.
[D] This is a guitar tutorial showing a little guitar [Eb] riff that's played
in the song.
So basically, what's being played is an octave.
[A] Basically an octave played on
the G and E strings.
Basically it's like an F, E, and C.
So [Eb] basically this F note is
played on the 10th [A] fret on the G string and on the 13th fret on the E string.
So just
playing both of them at the same time.
Then we go down one fret with that same shape and
play the E, [Gbm] which is on the 9th fret of the G and the [A] 12th fret of the E.
[Eb] Then we play
that C on the 10th fret of the D string and the [Am] 13th fret of the D string.
So you just
That's all you're doing.
Now once you play that, [A]
that's what you're playing after [Am] you do that.
[B]
[Am] [G] [Eb] Now that little single note riff part is basically played on the D and the G string.
So it's
basically on the [D] 10th fret.
[Eb] [A] So [D] 10th, 12th on the D.
[A] 10th, 12th on the G.
Then you slide up to
that 14th on the first part, on the first time around.
Then you go back around with the octave.
[Am] [F] Play that 10, [A] 12, 10, 12 on the G.
Slide to the 14, back to [D] the 12.
[A]
So basically [F] this is how
the whole [Am] riff goes.
[A]
[A] [B]
[Am] [B] [A] So all it is is basically like playing the same, but every riff you're just
playing the same frets but [Gbm] just on the [F] D and the D string.
[D] 10, 12, 10, [A] 12, 10, 12, slide to the 14.
Second time around, 10, 12, 10, 12, slide to the 14, and you slide [G] back to the 12.
[D] When you slide
to the 14, [A]
once you slide back to the 12, once you get to that 12 note, you strike it.
You don't do this.
You go [G] slide and you strike the 12 [Gbm] note when you come back.
Okay, that's [A] the basic little riff.
Now on the change, if [Eb] you want to do the change, basically just [D] chord it in.
You're playing the C
[A] minor, C [Eb] minor chord, and just then you go into the F [F] major chord.
[Dm] I'm playing the C [A] minor chord on the
A fret and playing the [F] F on the A fret.
[Eb] [F]
[Eb] You [F] [B] can play it, I'm playing the third fret.
[Eb] [F] [Eb]
[F] [A] You can play it
whatever you want to, but it's a C minor to F.
Now, [F] towards the end of the song, it's going to modulate up
a half a step.
So instead of being on, starting on the 10th fret, [Am] [D] you're going to be starting, you're going to go
up a half a [A] step, and you're just going to do the same exact riff.
[Eb] You're just going to do it a half a step up.
[A] So that's all it is.
[Eb] Instead of starting on that, instead of going [A] 10, 9, [D]
and going, basically you're just
going to be from the 11th, start on the [Gbm] 11th fret of the G string, and you're going to be on the 14th on that E
string, starting off.
Then you're going to go down to that 10th on [D] the G and the 13th [F] on the E.
[A] Then you're going
to go up to the
[Eb] 11th fret on [Bm] the D and the [A] 13th on the D.
That's [D] it.
The same exact riff, you just slide up a half step.
[Eb] And also, for the sentinel riff, the same thing.
It's a half step riff.
11, 13 on the D, [A] [Eb] 13th on the G, slide up to the 15th,
second time around.
11, 13, [A] 11, 13th, [Eb] slide up to the [A] 15th, back to the 13th.
And also on that change, you're going to
half step up.
[E] C sharp [A] minor on the [Gbm] 9th fret, F sharp major on the 9th fret.
[E] [Gb] [E] [Gb]
[Ebm] [Eb]
[A] So I hope that helps.

[Bm] _ _ This video is for James Gardner [A] and his friend.
This is a tutorial for Franklin Bradley and
Mays, While I'm Alone.
[D] This is a guitar tutorial showing a little guitar [Eb] _ riff that's played
in the song.
_ So basically, what's being played is an octave.
[A] Basically an octave played on
the G and E strings. _
Basically it's like an F, E, and C.
So [Eb] basically this F note is
played on the 10th [A] fret on the G string and on the 13th fret on the E string.
So just
playing both of them at the same time.
_ Then we go down one fret with that same shape and
play the E, [Gbm] which is on the 9th fret of the G and the [A] 12th fret of the E.
_ [Eb] _ Then we play
that C on the 10th fret of the D string and the [Am] 13th fret of the D string.
So you just _ _ _ _
_ _ That's all you're doing. _ _ _
_ _ Now once you play that, _ _ [A] _
_ _ that's what you're playing after [Am] you do that.
[B] _ _
_ [Am] _ _ [G] _ [Eb] _ Now that little single note riff part is basically played on the D and the G string.
So it's
basically on the [D] 10th fret.
[Eb] _ _ [A] So [D] 10th, 12th on the D.
[A] 10th, 12th on the G.
Then you slide up to
that 14th on the first part, on the first time around.
Then you go back around with the octave.
[Am] _ _ [F] Play that 10, [A] 12, 10, 12 on the G.
_ Slide to the 14, back to [D] the 12.
[A] _ _ _ _ _
So basically [F] this is how
the whole [Am] riff goes.
_ [A] _ _ _
[A] _ _ _ _ _ _ [B] _ _
[Am] _ _ [B] _ [A] _ _ _ So all it is is basically like playing the same, but every riff you're just
playing the same frets but [Gbm] just on the [F] D and the D string.
[D] 10, 12, 10, [A] 12, 10, 12, slide to the 14.
Second time around, 10, 12, 10, 12, slide to the 14, _ and you slide [G] back to the 12.
[D] When you slide
to the 14, [A] _
_ _ _ _ once you slide back to the 12, once you get to that 12 note, you strike it.
You don't do this.
You go _ [G] slide and you strike the 12 [Gbm] note when you come back.
Okay, that's [A] the basic little riff.
Now on the change, if [Eb] you want to do the change, basically just [D] chord it in.
You're playing the C
[A] minor, C [Eb] minor chord, and just then you go into the F [F] major chord.
[Dm] I'm playing the C [A] minor chord on the
_ A fret and playing the [F] F on the A fret.
_ [Eb] _ _ [F] _
_ [Eb] You [F] _ [B] can play it, I'm playing the third fret.
_ _ [Eb] _ [F] _ _ _ [Eb] _
[F] _ _ [A] You can play it
whatever you want to, but it's a C minor to F.
Now, [F] towards the end of the song, it's going to modulate up
a half a step.
So instead of being on, starting on the 10th fret, [Am] _ [D] _ you're going to be starting, you're going to go
up a half a [A] step, and you're just going to do the same exact riff.
[Eb] You're just going to do it a half a step up. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[A] _ _ _ So that's all it is.
[Eb] Instead of starting on that, instead of going _ _ [A] _ 10, 9, [D]
and going, basically you're just
going to be from the 11th, start on the [Gbm] 11th fret of the G string, and you're going to be on the 14th on that E
string, starting off.
_ Then you're going to go down to that _ _ 10th on [D] the G and the 13th [F] on the E.
_ _ [A] _ Then you're going
to go up to the _ _
_ _ [Eb] _ _ 11th fret on [Bm] the D and the [A] 13th on the D.
_ _ That's _ _ _ [D] it.
The same exact riff, you just slide up a half step.
[Eb] And also, for the sentinel riff, the same thing.
It's a half step riff.
11, 13 on the D, [A] [Eb] 13th on the G, _ slide up to the 15th,
second time around.
_ _ _ 11, 13, [A] 11, 13th, [Eb] slide up to the [A] 15th, back to the 13th.
_ _ And also on that change, you're going to
half step up.
[E] C sharp [A] minor on the [Gbm] 9th fret, _ _ F sharp major on the 9th fret.
_ [E] _ [Gb] _ _ [E] _ _ [Gb] _ _
[Ebm] _ [Eb] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[A] _ _ _ _ So I hope that helps.
