Bury My Bones [Em] by Whiskey Myers is going to be played in standard tuning and it will be
in a progression that comes out of an E minor.
So you can begin this either with a standard [C] E minor shape with your 2nd finger on the
5 [B] string 2 fret [F] and your ring finger on the 4 [Em] string 2 fret, everything else open or you
might want to play this E minor with your ring [G] finger on the 2nd string 3rd fret and
your 1st finger on the 5 string 2 fret so that your ring finger is [E] already in position
for a forthcoming D chord that will be showing [G] up in the 3rd chord of this intro.
[Em] Either way that you play it, the lead in to this intro is going to be, [D] which begins with
a hammer [C] on on the 5 string 2 fret.
So you're plucking the open 5 string [B] and then immediately hammering on to the 5 string 2
fret with either your 2nd finger or your 1st finger, [Bm] whichever way you're playing that [B] chord.
[A] So you'll hammer on [B] and then you'll pluck or you'll pick the string again [G#] and then you'll
open up the [A] 5 string and then you'll go with your 2nd finger to the 6 string 3rd [G] fret,
pluck that and kind of pull it as you pluck it so that you bend the note [Em] and then you're
going to open up [D#] the 6 string back into that E minor chord again.
And that's going to be the intro, or at least that's the lead in to the intro.
After the E minor chord, [G]
it walks up to the G chord.
So you'll [F] go twice on the [Em] E minor, down, down, or actually 3 times down, down, down and [F#] then
[G]
that walk is going with your 2nd finger to the 6 string [F#] 2nd fret and then ring finger
to the 6 string [G] 3rd fret where you'll then go into a G chord.
So you'll either have your ring finger on the 6 string 3rd fret and your pinky finger
on the 1st string 3rd fret or maybe you've got your ring finger on the 2nd string 3rd
fret during all [Em] of this and you'd be moving like, [G]
that would [E] be moving from the E minor
to with your 1st finger [F#] the 6 string 2nd fret and 2nd finger [G] to the 6 string 3rd fret.
In the G chord, [A] you can [B] hear it sounds like they do a hammer [F] on on the 5th string [E] 2nd fret.
[D] [G]
So that would happen with your 1st finger to the 5th string 2nd fret and [D] then to the D chord.
So for the D chord, I've got an open 5 string, an open 4 string, my [Dm] 1st finger is getting
pulled back to [E] the 3 string [A] 2 fret and my ring finger here, that's why [D] maybe you want
to begin with your ring finger just on the 2nd string 3rd fret so that it's already there
for the D chord whenever it comes around.
And then you, after the [Bm] D chord, you go back to the E minor and then you hit that [D] lick
again [B] of [A]
[E] and it repeats very slowly, it will be coming together like this from the beginning.
[B]
[G] [Em] [G]
[B] [D]
[Em]
[F#] [G]
[D]
[E] [Em]
And then once [G] the lyrics come in, those are the chords to the verse but the lick [G] isn't
happening as the lead in to each [Em] E minor, it's just E minor [G] to the G to [D] the D to [Em] the E minor.
Repeating E minor [D] to the G to the D to [Em] the E minor.
And those are the verse chords.
Those chords E [D] minor to G to D [G] remain consistent throughout the vast majority of the song.
The change happens in the bridge and the change will [C] go to a C major [D] to a G major to a D major
to [Em] an E minor the first time [D#] around.
The way that we're [A] going to do that is going to be the C, I'm playing with my ring finger
on the 6 string 3 fret, [G] pinky finger [C] on the 5 string 3 fret, [Em] 2nd finger on the 4 string
2 fret, [G] open 3 string, [C] 1st finger on the 2nd string 1 fret, open 1 string.
So I'm going from a C [G] chord to a G chord.
For the G chord, I'm leaving my ring finger on the 6 string 3 fret, I'm moving my 2nd
finger to the [Bm] 5 string 2 fret, [G] open 4, open 3, open 2, [B] pinky finger back to the 1 string [G] 3 fret.
Then you'll come up [A] to the same D chord as before and [Em] then an E minor chord.
That's [B] the first round of the bridge [Em] and then it sounds to me like it probably walks back
up to the C by going [E] open 6 string, [F#]
6 string 2nd fret, [G] 6 string 3rd fret and then [C] into
the C chord again, [G] to the G chord, [D] to the D chord and then the second time through the
bridge it just holds on the D chord and then third time through it [E] goes C, G, [Em] D, E minor
and then the fourth time through again it [C] goes [G] C, G, [D] D, holds on the D again [B] before
leading into the lead break which is the same chord progression [F#] as our intro [C] with [B] that lick of
[Em] [D]
