_ _ _ Hey _ _ _ _ _ _ _ guys, I know it's [N] been a while.
I just wanted to get on here and open up about my
life the last couple months. _
As soon as I went to prom and I graduated high school,
_ I finally had a moment to reflect on my evolution as an artist and my personal life and the
sacrifices I've made to get to this point _ at a young age.
_ And, you know, I was fresh
out of high school with a song on Billboard, _ artists I look up to start becoming my friends,
gaining notoriety.
Cool.
_ _ But at what cost? _
_ I wasn't spending time with my family.
I neglected
meaningful friendships.
I lost valuable moments of my childhood that I can't get back.
_ _ And
I spent almost all my time focusing on music and education, music and education, no personal
relationships.
_ And I decided at the beginning of the summer to find some balance.
So I
hung out with my friends before all my buddies go off in different directions.
And I spent
a lot of time with my pops, my mom, my sister.
_ I got some rest.
_ But I'm back.
I was feeling
great.
But _ I recognize that everything comes at a cost.
And in life, _ you need to decide
what you're willing to trade for what.
_ And, you know, over the summer, I've gotten some
crazy offers and deals I could have entered into.
But I told them, guess what?
_ _ I'm going
to college. _
And they looked at me like I was crazy.
They were like, Mabu, you understand
like you're not a regular kid.
You need to devote all your time to your career.
You want
to take the music seriously. _
But I was like, fuck you.
Watch this.
And I worked so hard
to get into the high school I was at, then applying out and getting into college.
And
I managed to do all of it while doing the music thing.
So why would I pass this opportunity
up now for what I can do both. _
I've done it before.
_ And so here I am _ in my dorm room.
Not that much space. _ _ _ _
And I don't think anybody's done this before.
Like college student turned
mainstream rapper.
But if any artist and their fan base could do it, _ _ it's us.
_ _ And we're
building an army.
It's like a fucking Mabu militia.
We're unstoppable. _
And _ _ _ contrary to
popular belief, you know, I don't address nothing. _ _
I don't have a manager.
_ I'm not signed
to a label.
And my father is not in the music business.
_ In fact, my father didn't have the
opportunity to go to college.
And a lot of people aren't given an opportunity of a great
education.
He's a guy from Brooklyn who worked harder than anyone I know from the ground
up to give me this opportunity that he never had.
And honestly, I'm grateful.
_ [F] So I _ [Eb] don't
want to grow up too fast. _
Certain things in life, if you miss them, there are no do overs.
_ _ _ And no one should have to give up their education and school life for success.
So I want to
be the person that shows you how you can do both _ education and music.
If you're an artist,
athlete, entrepreneur, you don't have to give up one to do the other.
And society needs
to get that out of their head.
_ Because believe it or not, the school shit is helpful, bro.
Like I've written songs in math class.
It puts my brain in gear.
I want to get a business
[Ab] degree.
_ My career in the entertainment industry and education work hand in hand.
So I'm going
to make hits in this dorm room, _ albums on the fucking way. _
And this is a new chapter.
So I'm going to try to give you more of a window into my personal life because this
is a journey we're going to be on together.
So _
[F] my recent experience _ has only fueled more
of my musical visions.
Like over the summer, I wrote a song and I shot a video about what
I exactly just described to you.
_ And _ I hope it helps all of you think about your life
and living it on your own terms. _ _
I love you.
_ _ _ Let's make history. _
