This is a tutorial of Wilber Sutt's Saline Solution.
The tuning is C, _ [G] G, B, [Gm] G, [F#] _ B, [Gm] B. _
_ _ _ [D#] That is the same as standard tuning.
You take the 6th, the thickest string, _ down two steps,
5th string down one step, and the 1st string, the thinnest string, down one step.
_ Capo.
Put it on your 5th fret.
_ There's four chords.
I'm going to be referring to them by the number I assign to them now,
because I don't actually know what they're called. _
[F] First chord, don't hit the [E] 6th string.
2 [C]-2-0-0-0.
_ _ _ [A] Second chord. _
4-4 [C]-0-0-0-0.
_ Third chord.
[G] 2-2 [C]-0-0-0-0.
And the fourth and final chord.
2-0-0-0-0-0.
Those will be in the [F#] description alongside any other chords I talk about in this video.
Okay, so song starts out with first chord.
[C] Down, down, down, down, down.
_ [C] What was I doing there?
I was slowly adding more and more strings that I hit as I was strumming.
So I started out hitting maybe [G#] only two or three strings, then I end [Am] hitting all five.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[C] Then [N] you mute and strum down, down, down, up, down.
_ _ _ _ _ Then you go into the [C] chorus.
Remember this, because we're going to be going over it.
You're going to have to do it quite a few times.
_ Chorus is down, down on the first chord.
Then [F] you smack the bridge.
If you're on electric, smack over the pickup that you're using.
But if you're on acoustic, just smack over the bridge like that.
_ _ Smack.
[C] Go to the second chord.
Down, pause, down, up. _ _ _
_ Hammer on the 7th fret, 6th string.
[Am] Pull off.
[G] Hammer on the 7th fret, 5th string.
_ [E] Pull off.
And that is the part A of the chorus. _
Part B of the chorus is the exact same, [F#] but you end on just hitting 6th string, 7th fret twice instead of [Am] going to the 5th string. _ _ _
_ _ _ [E] _ And then you do part A, then you do part B, then you do part A again, then you do part B again.
And then you're into the first verse.
_ Starting out on the first chord.
Just single down [C] strum.
I think I'm dying this time.
[D] Down, down.
So, single down strum, I think I'm dying this time, down, down.
Then you go to the [F#] next chord.
And that's as far as I'm going to cover the verse, because I strongly recommend you figure it out by ear.
I do it like this.
[F] _ _ [C] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [G]
That's not the way Wilbur does it.
It's somewhat similar, it's close enough to be passable, but being exactly the same in the strumming pattern isn't vital.
If you are bothered by it that much, it's not too hard to figure out, so go listen to the song or you can just kind of get the gist of it yourself. _ _ _ _
So, you just, for the chorus, you, sorry, for the verse, you go through _ 1, 2, _ 3, 4 for the chords.
[C] So, _ [D] I think I'm dying this time.
[Am] _ _ [C] _ _ _ _
_ [F] _ _ [C] _ I'm melodramatic, I'm just dramatic beyond help.
And then you [F] do the rest of the verse, I'm [G] not going to go through it for time's sake.
Back into the chorus, into the second verse.
_ Before I do that, the outro to the verse.
Almost forgot, oh my god, that would have been annoying.
Okay, you [Am] do a single down strum like the intro to the verse.
I think I'm [D] dying this time.
On the word [Dm] dying _ [E] this.
That's hammering [A] on to the second fret fifth string.
Dying _ this [D] time.
Synced up with the words dying and this.
So, [C] I think I'm dying this time.
[D] And then you go to the second chord and strum that.
So, I think I'm dying this time.
Sorry, before you go to the second chord, you do two down strums on the first chord. _
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ _
You go back to the first chord.
[D] I think I'm dying this time.
You go straight into the chorus.
_ [Am] _
_ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _
_ [G] Go into the _ next verse.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
So, that's second verse, then you go into the next chorus.
Then after the chorus, after the second verse, you go into the bridge.
_ The bridge has different chords, these are also down in the description.
First chord, don't hit the sixth string.
Five, zero, zero, five, zero.
[Cm] _ Second chord, don't hit the sixth string.
Three, zero, zero, three, zero.
Third chord, don't hit [D] the sixth string.
Two, zero, zero, two, two. _ _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ If I could [Cm] just break [D] one more _ night.
_ Keep on going.
When you _ _ hit_
_ [Em] _ _ _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ Take your finger [G] off the first string, second fret.
So, the chord you're now _ _ fretting is just two, zero, zero, two, zero.
And you pluck the first and second string one after another.
[D] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [G] _ _
[Cm] Serves only to mock me with flashing [D] _ lights.
_ And like the intro, you do down, [G] down, down, [F] adding more and more [D] strings as you go. _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ [Am] Chorus. _ _ _ _
_ _ [G] Then you go into the last verse.
And then when you get to the outro of the last verse, it's a little different.
So, this is the outro [B] to the whole song.
You do two down strums synced up with the words saline and [C] solution. _ _ _
Saline, solution.
Then you go to the [F] second [Am] chord.
_ _ _ _ _ Back up to the first.
[D] _ _ Saline, sol_
Sorry, you put both of the down strums on the second fret on the word saline.
So, saline, [Am] solution. _ _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ _ _ So, [Am] after strumming the second chord, you hammer on fifth fret, second string.
Like you do in the normal outros. _
_ [G] So, and then after [A] that you _ _ do_ [C] Saline, [Am] _ solution. _
_ [F] _ To [D] all your_
So, that time I did the strumming on the second fret overlapped with the word solution a bit.
And _ did the line.
[Am] _ _ _ [E] _ _
_ So, [D] _ _ down on the word saline, [Am] solution.
_ _ Down on the first chord [C] again.
To all [E] _ [D] your_
And this is the last time _ you [Am] do_ Saline, solution. _ _
[D] _ To all your_
And [B] then you do another single [C] down strum.
_ Problem. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ That is how you play the whole song.
That is a lot of takes!
_ I'm glad I finally got it_
Yeah, _ um_ _
_ _ _ _ I'd say something, but I_
_ _ I've forgotten what I was supposed to say.
I hope that was helpful. _ _ _ _
