You guys sang together for a while you named yourself
Grand staff or something.
Yeah, we've been singing together and doing a duo for a good while
And when we started singing we were we called ourselves grand staff and that's an old family name
right is the reason we chose that had a cool musical ring to it and we loved it the name and
But then after a while we got to realizing that not a lot of people could remember it
We got called all kinds of stuff.
Didn't we?
Oh, we did like the grand staffers.
Yeah
We're grind staff grandstand right flag staff.
Oh, yeah
And that coupled with no hit record.
We thought it was time to change the name So
As of late the do our duo name is Wilson Fairchild, which is our middle names and that's what we perform under
But I want to say something I've been thinking the whole time that we've been together and what a wonderful experience
It's so amazing to me and I never thought about it till till being here and meeting all you great great people
How much we have in common and we don't even know each other
Growing up in a musical family
All the things that we thought were normal in our childhood
Aren't so normal to most people but it's really nice to
to be around people that have been through the same experiences, you know that we have and and
Hearing the songs from the studio before they ever made the album
when when our dads brought him home and
You know, we've always been huge Statler brother fans.
Here's another true fact.
So Langdon, I love country music
We love the sound of brothers.
And of course that's been our huge influence
You know, we were forced to live and listen to their music.
We get grounded if we did exactly but
One of the funniest things is even the stuff that they cut early on
We would listen to their albums and it was very popular back then as a lot of you know
Not only to record things they had written but record other hits that other artists had they would do it, you know quite frequently
Well, you know when Langdon I would hear those things
We thought those were all their songs when the first time I heard City Lights.
I heard it from them.
I thought it was their song
It was on an album of theirs
But that's happened to us more than once because that was you know, our strong influence
But we've always loved country music and and and loved their legacy and everything they've ever done
Did the people up in Stanton, Virginia?
Which is where you you stayed your family kept their home and roots and everything there ended up
Buying one of the school houses that they went to and put in their offices there
Did the people were y'all ever called Statler did they think Statler was your last name?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yes
Yes, we we got called a lot of other names too, but we won't write
Yeah, that's a that's a common mistake in you know, and especially looking at them the Statler brothers
Well, only two of them are brothers and none of them are Statler
So, I don't know why that name was good for them, but we couldn't come up with a good record.
Oh, that's right
Could we get a song out of all we'd love to sure sure sure out of the non Statler brothers
Give me the name again Wilson
