Our album, Showers of Blessing, is a small collection of [G] songs we wrote inspired by messages
given [Am] during the 2020 Northeast Summer School of Truth.
[F] In one of the last messages, one of the Sharing [C] Brothers referred to the song, Great Searchings
of Heart, [G] saying we need to have great searchings of heart before the [Am] Lord concerning our relationship
with our family members.
[F] Because God's heart is to make us channels of [C] blessing to and through our families.
[G] I thought I'd share with you the background about writing this [Am] song, because it is so
meaningful to me.
Many [F] people don't know this, but I am a cancer survivor.
At [C] the time I was asked to write music for the 2015 [G] International College Training, I
had just completed [Am] six months of treatment, and praise the Lord, had been [F] declared cancer-free.
That entire period of [C] time was one of great searchings of heart concerning my [G] family,
service and function in His body, and [Am] consecration to Him.
I ended up writing [F] two songs for the college training, Consecrated [Dm] One and Great Searchings of Heart.
The song, [Am] Consecrated One, is about God needing [C] Nazarites to voluntarily consecrate themselves
to Him [G] so that He can accomplish His purpose on earth.
[Dm] In the Nazarite vow, one would shave their head [Am] as part of the procedure.
A sad, [C] funny, and yet profound coincidence is that I [G] actually had the appearance of a
Nazarite while writing and [C] recording these two songs for the college training, because
[G] my hair had not grown back yet at that time.
[Am] The prayer from this song was my [G] prayer to the Lord.
[F] I need you, but you need me too, [C] to do what you want to do.
_ I felt that [G] the Lord had preserved my life because He still needed me, [Am] and I needed to
re-consecrate myself to Him.
[F] _ With Great Searchings of Heart, I [C] sensed the Lord was calling us to a deeper consecration
[G] by going through a process with Him in searching our [Am] hearts.
When we open to Him in [C] this process, [F] the Lord can speak to us concerning barriers in our
[C] hearts, and He can gain more ground in our hearts. _
[G] _ _ _ In the bridge of this [Am] song, I wrote extended musical [G] lines so that while [F] singing these
longer notes, [G] we can also open more [C] deeply to Him as He searches the [Am] pathways of our heart.

I [F] also wanted to emphasize the importance of the line,
[Dm] We must be those who have great searchings [Am] of heart.
Because we may love the Lord, but if [C] we never enter into this deeper kind of fellowship
with [G] the Lord and allow Him to deal with these blockages in our [Dm] hearts, the Lord will be
limited in what He can do [Am] in and through us.
With Him to [C] be His expression, [G] we must be those who [C] have _ great searchings of heart.
Unlike my video about [G] writing This is the Year of Jubilee, which had lots of recordings
[Am] of this song in its developmental stages, Great [F] Searchings of Heart has no other recordings.
The song [C] came to me pretty quickly enough that I simply wrote down the [G] notes and recorded it.
So this recording on our [Am] album, Showers of Blessing, is actually my [F] original demo that
I recorded for the 2015 college [C] training.
I had no intention of publishing it at the [G] time,
but the recording captured the essence of a [Am] difficult but most precious time in my walk
with the Lord.
[F] While singing, I was flooded with the feeling [Dm] of being in the Lord's presence,
_ reconsecrating [Am] myself to Him, and being deeply humbled and grateful [C] to have the opportunity
to serve Him through writing these [G] songs, when months before, I thought I might [Dm] not be able
to have that privilege again.
There [Am] are many different recordings of this song online,
but this [C] demo you are about to hear, and the version I arranged for [G] _ _ NYCYPCD,
really convey the [Am] genuine spirit and feeling of this song.
We pray [F] that all who listen to this song can enter into this [C] same spirit to have great
searchings of heart with the [G] Lord.

ourselves to Him. _
