Xotic Effects Soul Driven demo + Paul Jackson Jr. - Part 1/3 chords
Start Jamming...
[E] [F]
[Em] [F] [Am] [B]
[Gb] [Dm] [F]
[Em]
[E] [F]
[D] [C] How are you today?
Paul Jackson Jr.
[Dm] here once again [F] for the incomparable people at Exotic
Pedals and Guitars.
[G] And when I say [F] incomparable, these guys, they never stop making great [Dm] stuff.
So I never stop doing [C] videos because this stuff is great.
So today [F] we're going to talk
about the Soul Driven pedal.
[C] And you ask, why do I need one?
Well see, and that's [Am] my
whole thing is, why do I use one, but why do I think you need one?
[C] Okay.
The point is,
is that what you want to have in your arsenal, in your bag of tricks, there are [G] different
areas if you [Dm] will, of distortion [G] or overdrive or [Bb] whatever [C] you, you know, you [Dm] choose to call
it.
[F] There's the, if you will, the, the, [Am] the Marshall [Dm] Plexi vibe, [Am] the, the D vibe, [Gm] if you
know what I'm talking about, they're different ones, you know, [D] maybe the, the, you know,
[Am] you're going for the, the Steve Ray Vaughan vibe [F] or whatever.
But so they're different areas where
you want to, [Bm] you know, have [Am] covered.
Well, that's what I like about the Soul [A] Driven.
Now it's not
[Bb] necessarily [C] trying to be any of those.
It's just a [Gb] great sounding [G] overdrive pedal.
[Am] So how that fits
into what you do, you can [Dm] find out.
But the cool thing that I like about it, it's got [C] a lot of tone
variation.
Obviously [Em] it's got, you know, [F] gain and volume, which [Dm] everything [C] has.
It's got a tone
control.
[Am] It also has a mid boost.
So let's say, you know, you're [Dm] rolling [Am] in the highs or rolling
out the highs.
You say, this is great, but I really like a little bit more mids, you know,
to fill out the middle of the, well, you can do that on this pedal, which is cool.
The added bonus
is you can open up the [G] back and it has some dip switches in it.
So let's say you're rolling up
[C] the tone and you feel like you're losing a little, a little bit [B] of the bass.
Well, you can [C] actually add
that in with one of the dip switches.
So [F] very, very versatile pedal.
I [Em]
[F] [G]
[F] run mine not super, super
high gain wise.
I run the gain about, in general, I start with my gain about 10, 10, 30.
[G] [F] [Bb] [G]
Just because
for me, I kind of like it, you know, for me, and this is for me, kind of like that amp breakup, you
know, uh, if you will, you know, late seventies, early, early eighties [Am] distortion, [Eb] you [Dm] [Cm] [E]
[F] [C]
know, but
that's for me.
And that's kind of where I start solo wise, but you've got tons more gain on tap.
Okay.
Let's just crank it for instance, to about one 30, you know, [Cm]
[E] [C] a lot more smooth game, you know,
almost [Gm] like the violin, but [Eb]
[D] [F] it [Em] [Bb]
[Em] never gets brittle or harsh, which is what I like about it.
So, you
know, like I said, you kind of have to go in and find where that fits for you.
But the cool thing
is there's a lot of tonal variation.
Okay.
So we have this for instance, okay.
I have the, the
mids cranked about two o'clock.
Let me, let me pull some [C] of the mids out, put the mids on 10,
put the tone on 12 o'clock and see what we got.
[Bb] [Eb]
[F] [Eb] [Am]
[Eb] [N] [Cm]
[Bb] There [Eb] [C]
[Cm] [Eb]
[C]
[Eb] [E] [G] [Dm]
[F] [G] [F]
are a lot of places to go with this pedal
and you can find your sweet spot.
That's not necessarily mine, but [G] your sweet spot with all
the tonal variations.
Okay.
Now I've cranked [C] the mids back.
[G] I'm going to go back to where I kind
of live here, [F]
[G] [C] [Am]
[C]
[Eb] you [B] [Eb]
[Dm] [B]
[Am] know, very responsive, but not, not a lot of drive there.
But like I said,
mine right now is on, it's on high noon, but you've got lots more gain on tap, [Bm] you know,
lot [F] of tonal variations.
So [Em] I really, really, [Dm] really love this pedal.
[C]
The exotic [F] soul driven
pedal.
Like [G] I said, [F] it's not trying to be the [Em] plexi vibe.
It's not [Dm] trying to be the D vibe.
It's [Am] trying to be its own vibe.
[Em] [Dm] And it's [Am] a great sounding pedal that you can implement and put
into your skillset, put into your arsenal and really make it your [G] sound and what works for you.
[Am] And that's why I love [F] it.
