[E] Hey guys, it's Carl Brown from Guitar [C#] Lessons 365 .com.
Today we're going to learn how to play You Got It by [C] Roy Orbison.
So this one's [A#] a really catchy one, really fun one to play.
It's got a couple of cool guitar [A] lines in it too.
So we're pretty much doing a lot of bars and stuff and some open position chords too.
So let's start here with the intro which just has these chords.
[G] [D]
[A] [G]
[D] [A]
[G] [D] Alright so we have this A major.
Now this is pretty much the verse [B] as well.
So [C] what we can do just to kind of simplify things, speed things up, [F] I'll show you the
verse and then you can do just the beginning of the verse.
[G#] The verse is the intro of the song.
So we have just an A major kind of strummed and kind of an eighth note feel [A] down up.
[C] And then we enter the G [G] major chord and then the [D] D major chord.
So we just do that in straight eighth [A] notes and
[G] [D] [C] you go back through the three [A] chords.
The second time though
[G] [D]
you do a sixteenth note [G#] feel there on the G.
[G] Down up, down up, down.
[D] Same [A] thing on the D.
[G] [D] [A]
[G] [D]
Alright, and then we keep [E] going.
Same chords, the eighth note feel.
[A]
[G] [D] Now this is the fourth time through.
We're going to go to the E [E]
and the [G] G.
Alright so [F] that makes up the [C] verse.
So I'll play the whole [A] thing for you.
[G] [D] [A]
[G] [D]
[A] [G]
[D] [E]
[G]
[C#] Alright then we have the pre-chorus [E] which they play a couple different ways but the
way [C] you want to actually play it if you want to make it sound [F#] like the record because he
[A] has this, [F#m]
[C#m]
[E] that kind of thing [A] going on.
So you can play a full bar major chord here and just kind of hit the chord and then play
those chord stabs on the top three strings.
Now you're going to play the F sharp minor chord [F#m]
like this because you want to keep [F#] this
voicing up here because that's the ones that are chord stabs are at.
So it's basically [C#] these same three notes.
[D] Fifth on the [C] high E string, seven on the B, [F#] sixth on the G and then add the F sharp here
at the, on the D string fourth fret.
[F#m]
Then you're going to do a minor [C#m] bar chord of the ninth fret so it's going to be C sharp minor chord.
So again chord stabs and then an E [E] major chord.
Alright so [A] you can just kind of [F#m] put the two parts together or [C#m] [E]
you can just decide to play the [A] chords.
[C#]
So we can just [A] start with the A major and then just the F [F#m] sharp minor up to C [C#m] sharp
minor and [E] E major.
So those are the chords [A] that are going on
[F#m] in that pre-chorus.
[C#m]
[E]
Alright now the second time [C] he plays through the pre-chorus later on in the song you hear
the, [A] [F#m]
he's kind of just strumming on those chords more [A] on the, instead of just killing them.
[F#m]
[C#m] Alright so kind of do what you [E] want with it.
Alright now we just pretty much [F#] have the [C] chorus here.
Now the chorus [C#] is really fun, it kind of moves around so we're going to have, it's going
to [A] sound like this.
[D]
[A] [C#] [F#m]
[D] [A] [C#]
[F#m] [D] [A]
[E] [F] Now I'll play just the chord there [E] on the last one and there's a little guitar fill
that we're going to take a look at there too [G] that happens multiple times in the song.
So the [A] chords are A major to [G#] C sharp [C#] dominant 7.
So it's a bar at the 4th fret and then the 3rd finger is going to be on the 6th fret
on the D [A#] string and then the little finger is [C#] going to be the 6th fret on the B.
[B] Then
an F sharp minor chord [F#m] and then [D] a D major.
So we have, [A] [C#]
[F#m] [D]
[A] so do that a few times [C#]
[F#m] [D] [A]
[C#] [F#]
[D] and you're going to end it now after three times of playing those [C] chords.
It's an A major chord but [E] you're going to have the E [A] string in the bass and then resolve
[E] it to an E major chord.
Alright now when that E major chord is played, this guitar fill comes [A] in and it sounds like this.
[E]
Alright, so it's just kind of hitting each note [G#] twice, starting at the 7th fret on the
A [E] string, then 5, [D]
then 4, [C#] 2, [B] then open, [A] [E]
[C#] [A]
then [G#] 4 on the low E, [F#] 2, and [E] then E.
[C#]
So if it's played just once, that [E] last E would [A#] just be done once but [F#] some parts of the song
he does it four times, sometimes he'll do it three.
So he'll [A#] just kind of do two notes every time [D] [G#] [E]
[D] [B]
[E] [D] [B]
[A] and it ends on an A.
Alright, [C] hope you guys enjoyed it.
I'll see you again soon for GuitarLessons365.com.

[G] [D] Now this is the fourth time through.

that we're going to take a look at there too [G] that happens multiple times in the song.
So the [A] chords are A major _ to _ _ _ _ _ [G#] C sharp [C#] _ dominant 7.
_ So it's a bar at the 4th fret _ and then the 3rd finger is going to be on the 6th fret

[B] Then
an F sharp minor chord [F#m] _ and _ _ _ then [D] a D major. _ _

[E] it to an E major chord.
_ _ _ _ _ _ Alright now when that E major chord is played, _ this guitar fill comes [A] in and it sounds like this. _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [E] _ _
Alright, so it's just kind of hitting each note [G#] twice, starting at the 7th fret on the
A [E] string, _ then 5, [D] _
_ _ then 4, [C#] _ _ 2, [B] _ then open, [A] _ _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ [C#] _ _ _ [A] _ _
then [G#] 4 _ on the low E, [F#] 2, _ and [E] then E.
_ [C#]
So if it's played just once, that [E] last E would [A#] just be done once but [F#] some parts of the song
he does it four times, sometimes he'll do it three.
So he'll [A#] just kind of do two notes every time [D] _ _ _ _ _ [G#] _ _ [E] _
_ _ [D] _ _ [B] _ _ _ _
_ [E] _ _ [D] _ _ _ [B] _ _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ and it ends on an A.
Alright, [C] hope you guys enjoyed it.
I'll see you again soon for _ GuitarLessons365.com.
Bye bye. _ _ _ _
