Start Jamming...
[N] Hey guys, I'm going to teach you You've Got a Friend in Me today.
[G] So I'm going to start with the intro.
[Eb] It goes like this.
[B] [Bb]
[Ebm] [Bb] [Bbm]
[D] The right hand starts like [Eb] this.
[B] [Cm]
[Db] I'm just going to take that [N] part real quick.
[Gm] How that goes is [Cm] it's G, [Eb] Bb, E, F.
[Db] So you just [Eb] go, [G] you kind of roll your fingers [Eb] across it, [Db] and then you kind of jump up to the [Gb] F sharp
with your ring finger to make it sound kind of jazzy.
[Eb]
[G] Then you [Db] go to B and G, [G] which is right here.
[B] [F]
[Eb] [G] And then you [Db] scoot down to G and Eb.
[C]
[Gb] So what you should have so far is
[G]
[C] The next part goes like this.
[Db] [Cm]
[Db] [Bb] So what that is is just a bunch of [Db] two note chords [Gm] kind of sliding down.
It's A and F [D] sharp.
Then you [Dbm] scoot down a half step on each [N] note
[Gm] to Ab and [Db] F.
Then you [Ab] scoot down to G and [Eb] Eb,
and [F] then G and [Eb] Bb,
[Gm] Gb and [Gbm] A, [Ab] and F and [Db] Ab.
I know that's really hard to [D] see.
[Db]
[Eb]
[Gbm]
[Db]
And [Gm] then you have this little
[D]
[Db] [D]
And what that [F] is is real quick.
It's just [G] G, [Eb] Db, and Eb, and [Gb] then F sharp, [Dm] A and D, [Db] Ab, Db.
[Gb]
[D] [Bb] [D] So how the whole intro should [F] sound really slowly, for the right hand at [G] least, is
[Eb] You [Gb] [G] [C]
[Db] [Eb]
get
[D] [Db]
[D] [Ab] that down really well [F] before you try to put in the left hand.
Because the left hand [Db] should sound like [Eb] this.
[Dm] [Cm] [B]
[Bb] [Eb]
[Bb]
[Db] Okay, so the [Eb] notes are Eb down here, [Ebm] and then you go all the way up.
[Eb] It's two octaves up.
It's a jump.
It goes to Bb and Eb, and then you go from [D] D to B and [B] F, then [C] to C and Eb.
[Cm] [Bbm] Let's just start with that [Eb] part first.
[D] [G]
[Cm]
[B] And then it [Ab] goes down to B.
[B] That's just two octave jump.
Then it slides down to [Bb] Bb, and then back up to B and Eb.
[Eb]
[Bb]
So [F] it should be starting at the beginning.
[N]
[Eb] [D] [G]
[Eb] [B] [Bb]
[Eb] [Bb]
Okay, and then it [Eb] goes Eb.
[Bb] So you do a [Eb] little jump right there.
It's [Bb] Bb, Bb.
[Eb] [Bb]
[Db] Now what we're going to do is [Ab] combine them, and this is definitely the hardest part,
and [G] it took me a really long time, [Gb] so don't be discouraged [F] if you don't get it right away.
[Db] Here's how it should sound together [Eb] really slowly.
[G] [Cm] [B]
[Db] [Bb]
[Eb]
[Ebm] [Bb]
[Gb] [Bb] [N]
[Db] So something that may or may not help you that [Gbm] kind of helped me when I was learning [N] it
[C] is for [Db] the left hand, just [Gb] stick with the bottom note.
[F] Don't jump around.
At first, just go [Eb] from Eb, [D] Db, [C] C, E, [Bb] Bb, [Eb] Bb.
[Bb] [Db] That might just help you with rhythm a little bit.
I'll show you how that sounds together.
[Eb]
[C] [B]
[Bb]
[Eb] [Bb] [Bbm]
[Bb] Okay, if that doesn't help [Gm] you, then don't do it that way.
Just practice this way.
[N]
If you need to, also what you can do is instead of doing [Eb] a full two octave jump, you can start
[F] your bass note right [Eb] here.
This Eb instead of this one.
So you can go from here.
[B]
It's the same exact notes that I just [Db] taught you, but it's instead of [Eb] down here.
[C] [Ab] That also helped me when I was learning to kind of, [F] so I didn't have to look where I was going.
It kind of helped me.
And then once I got that down, then I moved down to here.
But how that
sounds is [Eb] [Cm]
[Eb]
[Bb] just
[Eb]
[Bb] [D]
But I mean, it really [F] sounds a lot better with the bass note down here, but just
for learning [Eb] purposes, you can use either of those methods, either [Gb] by just playing the bass note down
here or playing [Dm] it up here with [Db] this part.
Those should help you learn it, but ultimately you want
to try [Eb] to aim [D] for
[Cm] [B]
[Bb]
[Eb] [Bbm]
[D] Okay, so that was the intro to the song.
I really hope it helped you out a
little bit.
Let me know if it did.
I'll be posting the other parts too.
