As-salamu alaykum, peace be with you.
For human beings like you and me, there are two dominant
realities, the spiritual and the material, which today is represented by science.
My main interest
was always the former, but that doesn't mean that I rejected scientific explanations in dealing with
the reality of the metaphysical world.
The journey I've been on is actually,
which has got me to where I am today.
[Ab] [G] I haven't arrived, but it has brought me certain conclusions.
When I studied numerology, I realised that I was looking for something like a solution,
some kind of explanation which could sum up this thing we call existence.
I, me, why?
And in a way, I learned one of the most important things, that the number one itself
is the highest and most powerful number.
It comes from the Greek monas, singularity,
the primary supreme existing being.
This is what Pythagoras discovered, in fact,
the single source from which multiplicity and all other interconnected things are derived.
During my journey, I did happen to write and record a lot of my thoughts and ideas of those
things I was discovering.
Just before I arrived at the reading, which is another word for the Quran,
in 1975, I wrote a story based on numbers.
I recorded that and the album was called Numbers.
It wasn't very successful, but it contained some important things.
Particularly, when it came to this little character which [A] enters the world of
multiplicity and the world of polygore, where they were producing numbers for the universe,
and everybody had an identity and they knew who they were.
In comes this character called
Jezero, representing the symbol of zero.
When I analyzed that further, I realized it was bringing
me closer to the greatest thing that I've learned.
That is that in order to approach God,
the infinite source of all finite things, including you and me, we must first learn to
humble ourselves.
That means to tame the ego.
That doesn't mean to disappear, but it means to
make that little erratic monkey which jumps from tree to tree all around our lives, to make it stop
and bow.
[G] I'd finally reached the ultimate wisdom, which contains zero and one.
Simply,
there is no God but the one God.
Call that monotheism.
