[Bb] When [Eb] I was 14, we started making these dumb songs [Cm] up, me and my [Ab] buddies sitting around.
And I just, I never really expected to [Bb] be a musician ever, but I always wanted to write songs.
That's what I wanted to do.
I [Cm] wanted to be a [Ab] songwriter.
This is the first bar I ever played a show at.
[Bb] [Eb]
The first time I heard about the Opry as a [Cm] person was, I [Ab] mean, my grandpa used to watch
it with me every single time we were in his RV.
The [Bb] Opry was the biggest freaking [Eb] stage that you could be on ever.
Hey, I'm Zach Bryan and this is my Opry debut.
[D]
My entire family up to this point has been in the Navy pretty [A] much.
My grandfather was, my
[Gm] great-grandfather was, my uncles are, my mom was, my dad was.
[D] That's why I wanted to really bad.
I just wanted to be like my dad, I guess, like everyone else.
He was always surrounded by so many people who were in the Navy and they'd always be
at the house and they'd always be coming home from [A] deployments and all my friends would
be running to their dad's arms, you know, and [G] stuff like that.
So it was really cool being able to grow up like that.
They [D] say Navy brat and stuff, but I learned a lot about what it takes to be in the [Em] Navy
or be a good man, you know, so it was cool.
When I get off work every single day, [C] I play music all night long.
I was the only thing that, like, my buddies had.
We would always [D] just sit in the shop in Djibouti and make music.
[G]
[N] That's insane.
I can't even imagine who's been here, you know?
All weekend has just been people talking about who's been on the stage and who's done what
on the stage and the parking lots and things like that.
It's just, it's beautiful.
The whole place.
I never thought I'd be here, is all I know.
I always just played as a passion, you know, so I had no idea how it worked.
We'll go straight into the song.
Okay.
At the end of the song, applause, then we go into sweet.
At the end of sweet, [Em] applause, you'll walk over stage left and we'll rehearse that here
in a bit, okay?
[A] Yes, sir.
I was in Florida for [G] three months because we were getting training and so I was playing
these songs [C] and I'd go outside and I'd video them and I would just put them on all my [G] social
media, which is such a strange thing nowadays that that's even an [D] option.
I was playing all these songs and it blew up, like, more viral than I'd ever seen anything
in my entire life.
That's [G]
when it happened.
That's when I got [C] discovered.
And my friends were the only [G] reason it happened because they're the ones who were like, we
should record it [G] or I love this song or I [C] love that song.
I just was lucky to be able [Em] to do it.
I felt lucky that [Am]
people were even willing to [G] listen.
Twelve-year artists [C] are just trying so bad for people to hear them [G] and here I am with
these people [C] who are willing to listen to me and I was just blown [G] away by that.
[Em] He's unstoppable and I don't mean that to be prideful.
[E] He really is.
He's just an [Db] amazing kid.
Always has been.
When he was 10 or 11, I bought him this statue that said, [E] Dream Big.
[Gb] He took it to a whole new level [Em] and he's just getting [E] started.
It [G]
[Am] is a special, it is a special event [N] to making his grand old Opry debut tonight.
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome for the first time, Zach Bryan.
I decided for the Opry tonight I was going to sing songs that meant something to me.
I didn't want to sing something that people wanted to hear, you know, so.
This is a song called Sweet D.M. and I appreciate you guys being here to listen, genuinely.
It means the world to me.
[D]
[G] [D]
I'd be calling you right about now.
Tell you [G]
stories that look [D] pretty fine gal.
[G]
Remind you of the things [D] that you're bores into.
[A] How he looks and he [G] acts and he talks like [E] you.
[D] That is, that's a legendary stage and I hope I did it justice.
But besides that, I had a really good time.
I think [F] everyone else did and [A] it really meant a lot to me that the Opry would [E] let me sing those songs here.
You know, because the stage is full of such talent and that's where I want to be someday.
But I know I'm not there yet.
So to be here to do that for everybody is just [D] unbelievable.
I cannot, can't even put it into words.
[A] [D]
I do [B] feel that my mom and my pops have [Gbm] really helped him because they were the only, like they really believed in him.
And I feel like once they were gone, they like worked [E] together and they were like, we got to get him to the Opry or to the masses, you know.
[G]
[D] Sweet D and I miss you so.
And you were
[A] out [E] and slow.
It's [Eb] breathtaking, literally.
My heart [B] started beating like, [Gbm] never felt it [Ab] before.
And besides that, [E] I just looked at everyone, [F] looked at my sister and [Gb] I was like, OK, guess we got to do it now, you know.
But it was, it's like I can't get over it.
I'm on a [E] high right now.
How he looks and he [G] acts and he talks like you.
[N]
Thank you guys so much.
