Hey guitar buddies, let's have a look at Give Me Some Loving.
Now it was originally done by the Spencer Davis group
But the version I'm doing is the Blues Brothers cover, which is in E.
The original is in G
Okay, but this has got a little more guitar on so I thought I'd do this version.
Okay
It's a very simple riff to start off, very effective.
We've just got an octave [E] E
Okay, and that's the riff for the verse as well, it's really simple.
I'm just doing little slides to get to the E
[N] Okay, and the E is on 7 on the A string and then play the [E] open E
the bottom string
Simple as that.
Now if we want to put [G] the
Horn part in, which is played on the horns on the Blues Brothers
Organ on the Spencer Davis record, I could play this
[A] [E] Okay, and what I'm playing there is an E7 chord
E, B, D
14, 16, 15
on the D, G and B strings
And just 14, 14, 14 for an A [A] chord
and back to the first [B] chord
[A] back [E] to the A
Then to an E and for the E I like to do a little [G#] hammer
from the G to the G sharp.
So 14, 13, [E] 12
But on the G string, I like to do that little hammer
I've also got one of those little organ pedals, which makes this quite fun
Let's get that kind of Spencer Davis sound.
Okay, and then for the verse itself
Nice and simple.
We've got the riff
the chorus chords are simply E
[G] G
[A] A [C] C
[E] Back into the riff.
There's also another little guitar lick that you hear on [A] the song
[E] So on there, I've just played that [Bm] B
And pull it off to an A and play that twice
[G] then a little bend [E] [F] on
the [B] G on the third fret
[G] [E] to an [A] open E
[G] [E] Now when the verse comes back in the second time around we've got a little variation which is nice we play
into
[G]
[A] [C] the chorus there.
So what I'm playing there [E] is [D] E, B, [E] E, E, D
Sorry, E, [E] D, E, D, E
Then the bottom string the open E
So 7, 5, 7, 5, 7, open and then again 7, 5, 7, 5, [C#m] 7, [D#] 4, 5, [A] 6
[C#] [D] C sharp, [N] D, D sharp going chromatically back [E] up
Then [F#m] into the chorus
Great fun song to play if you want [G] to do some noodling like you do at the end just use the E blues scale
All that kind of stuff
