[Eb] [Ebm]
[Eb] Yeah, this is Jimmy just tearing it up in the [Ebm] studio.
This is May of 69.
This is the beginning of [Ab] what will become the band of Gypsies.
It's Buddy Miles and it's Billy Cox.
And of course later on at the end of the year they do this famous live show at the Fillmore East.
This predates it.
[Eb]
Well I hear my train a [Eb]-thumbin'
[Ab] Hear my train a-thumbin'
[Ebm]
[Eb] [Gb] [Eb] [Ebm]
[Eb] Jimmy had done three albums with The Experience.
[C] And he felt that [G] this is time for an expansion of his musical ideas.
And he enrolled Buddy Miles and Billy Cox, his friend from the Army who he really [Ab] trusted.
This is the first iteration of the band of Gypsies in the studio [N] recording.
And they shared this immense love of the blues.
I mean Jimmy was rooted in the blues.
Everything he did and touched came from the blues.
And Billy and [G] Buddy were fantastic cohorts in this musical adventure.
What was cool about the way Jimmy approached the blues was not only did he cover [E] songs,
but he wrote great original blues songs.
Hear My Train A-Thumbin' is one of those [Gb] great examples.
