_ _ We did a little video the other day of Hello and my solo on that and I had a lot of _ _ response
from my guitar buddy who said, do some more of that.
So we're doing Last Train to Clarksville today. _ _ _
It's the first hit record that I played on and I _ got my foot in the door for studio work in LA. _ _ _ _ _
We had three guitar players on that song.
Wayne Irwin was [G] playing the chords [F] _ _ _ [G] and I had my friend Jerry McGee _ playing this on the
top _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [D] all the way across the solo which made what I was doing work a lot better.
I was playing G to F, G to F, different _ inversions and using the open string _ a lot on the G.
The thing about Clarksville is it was in G which is a good guitar key with a lot of
open strings whereas if it had been in A flat or F sharp [G] we may never have had Last Train to Clarksville.
_ _ _ So I was playing something like this.
_ [Am] _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
[F] _ _ [G] _ _ _ [F] _ _ [G] _
_ _ [F] _ _ [G] _ _ _ [F] _
_ [G] _ _ _ [F] _ _ [G] _ _
_ _ [F] _ _ [G] _ _ [F] _ _
_ So I'll play that for you again with the [C] track.
It works together with all those parts very well. _

[G] _ _ _ [F] _ _ [G] _ _ _
[F] _ _ [G] _ _ _ [F] _ _ [G] _
_ _ [F] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _
That was the solo part.
The intro and the rest of what I was playing through the song was just holding down that _
G note while I'm letting the other notes ring playing that. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ So I'll play that with the track too.
That seemed to work pretty good. _ _ _ _ _ _

_ _ _ Also I've [N] had a lot of _ inquiries as to did I play it with a pick or fingers.
I played it with a pick because we wanted a nice _ hard bright attack to it. _
And what guitar, what amp.
I played a Tele _ and straight through a Fender Super Reverb.
We didn't have pedals in those days so it was pretty much guitar, amp, straight into
the mic which is what I'm doing now basically.
_ So that's about it in a nutshell. _
Hope you enjoyed that. _ _ _ _ _
