[B] [Dbm] What's up guys, [F] my name is Cal and today I'm going to be teaching you [C] how to [Em] play Slave
by the Rolling Stones off [Gb] of Tattoo, the Tattoo [Em] album.
[C] It's a great song, it's really [F] simple to play, [Em] and it's [F] pretty fun to play.
So [E] without further ado, let's get into the song.
[C] Okay, so the song [B] starts off just a [F] B power [B] chord, which [Eb] is first finger on the second
fret A string, [B] third finger on the fourth fret D string, and your pinky underneath that
on the fourth [Ab] fret G string.
Now you can use your third [B] finger and actually just bar down both the D and the G.
[C] So all together, [E] just remember to leave [B] out the E.
And then take [A] off your first finger [B]
and hammer back on [A] again.
[B] And then wait two beats.
[A]
So
[B] that's twice.
So, [A] and [B] [Gb]
[Cm] then take your first finger and place it [Ab] on the second fret [Dbm] [B] E string.
So all together.
[A] [B]
[E] [A] [E]
[Gb] And you can give it sort of [E] a little pull off, so [Gb] second fret E, [E] pull off to an open
E, and then go to an E major chord, which is first finger on the second fret A string,
[Em] second finger underneath that on the second fret D [E] string.
And this time you do hit the open E.
[B]
[E]
And then open, so E, open, then E again, and then you do this, [D]
[A] which is just an A chord,
first finger [C] barring down basically the D, the G, the B, and [A] the E, also hitting the open A.
So you hit that and then you [B] hammer on with your second finger on the third fret B [Bb] string
and your third finger on the fourth [C] fret D string.
[D]
[Bb] [A] [D] So, [B] and then down, up, down, [A] up.
[D] [B] And then back, open, just the [A] A again.
[B] [A]
[E]
[A] [D] [A]
[D] [A] [D]
[C] And then back [F] into the riff.
And that's played pretty much throughout the entire song.
Then the chorus, don't [Gb] wanna be your slave, is basically the same thing, [B] there's just
a couple ways to play it.
But same B chord, and this time you just strum it and let it ring, and then hit it again,
and then [A] open, and then [Gb] E, or sorry, second fret low E string,
[E] pull off to an E.
[B] So, [E] [B]
[E]
[B] [E] and [B]
[E] then after you let the E ring, after your chorus is done, and then go right back
into, [A] [E]
[D] [A]
and [C] so on and so forth.
Now you can also do [Gb]
[E] basically just a power chord first finger on the tenth fret A string,
and [Bbm] then normal bar chord [Gb] formation.
[E] You can sort of strum that also during the chorus.
I think there's two [Ab] different guitar parts for that [Bb] in the recorded track.
But guys, that's pretty much how to [Eb] play Slave.
[C] It's really fun to play.
[D] I recommend for [F] amp settings, basically turn up the gain a little bit, turn up the treble,
turn down the [Em] bass, and [Cm] you should get a pretty good sound.
Maybe add a little bit of [D] reverb if [Gb] you want, as [B] opposed to what I was just playing.
Throw on the pickup.
[E]
[A]
[B] But you guys can mess around with the amp [Ab] settings to get it sounding similar.
So [Eb] hope you guys enjoyed that lesson.
[Ab] If you learned [Eb] anything at all, [C] let me know in the comments, it really means a lot.
