[E] This is a song that I wrote when I was 16.
I [F] went out on [Eb] a night out, shouldn't have
been on a night out really, used my sister's ID.
I loved that we looked [C] enough alike that
I could get away with it.
[F] And just had a brilliant time.
[Eb] And the [Em] next day, spent the whole day
in my [F] bedroom basically, [Eb] I think I was probably banished there, and wrote this [B] song.
[F] And when
I wrote it, I was [Eb] just so [Eb] unbelievably thrilled.
[F] Like, when [E] you're a [Eb] songwriter, you [D] know
when you've written [Db] something that's good.
[Eb] And I just knew right [C] away I was gonna do
it.
And I was right, [Eb] because it then went on [Ab] to be a massive hit all over Europe.
[E] And
I know, [F] I was digging the carpet.
[B] And it changed my entire life.
And it meant [F] that I was able
to travel all over Europe, play gigs, and I still am.
[E] And it's just so [Db] amazing, like
people [F] spend their entire lives [E] trying to write songs that have that sort of [Em] impact,
[F] and that have that lasting impact.
I swear to God, you can't [Em] go anywhere [C] in Europe without
hearing this song [F] constantly.
And [G]
for me to [E] be able to do that on my own, in my bedroom
when I was 16, is just something I'm so massively proud of.
[F] And I think sometimes [E] we're really
poor at being proud of our achievements.
[D] So make sure [F] that [G] you sing it loud and proud
when you do [E] something, when you work hard at something, and you achieve [F] something.
Don't
be embarrassed to [C] own it, because it's great, and we should all be like that.
[F] Anyway, this
is a little [E] track called This Is The Life.
[Dbm] [A]
[E]
[Abm] [E] [A]
[E]
Oh, the wind whistles down the [A] cold dark street tonight, and the [E] people they were dancing
[Abm] to the music by, [Dbm] and the boys kissed the girl, they couldn't [A] care, they shat and then they
just said, oh yeah, but there are [E] songs that get louder, and it's one better than the four.
[Abm] And you're [E] singing songs, thinking this is the life, and you [A] wake up in the morning and
you're helpless, pressed to size, where you [E] gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna
sleep [Abm] tonight?
And you're singing [Dbm] songs, thinking this is the life, and you [A] wake up in the morning
and you're helpless, pressed to size, where you gonna go, [E] where you gonna go, where you
gonna sleep tonight?
[Ab] Where you gonna sleep [Dbm] tonight?
[A]
[E]
[Abm] [Db] So you're hitting down [E] the road,
you're taxed [A] before, and you're waiting outside, in the scrummy door, but [E] nobody's in, nobody's
in, don't tell a boy, so [Dbm] you're sitting there with another [A] dude, talking about rubber rag
and his mouth, and [E] where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep [Abm] tonight?
And you're [E] singing
songs, thinking this is the life, and you [A] wake up in the morning and you're helpless,
pressed to size, where you [E] gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight?
And you're singing [Dbm] songs, thinking this is the life, and you [A] wake up in the morning and
you're helpless, pressed to size, where you [E] gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna
sleep tonight?
[Ab] Where you gonna sleep [Dbm] tonight?
[A]
[E]
[A]
[E]
[Abm] And you're singing [E] songs, thinking this is the life, and you wake [A] up in the morning and
you're helpless, pressed to size, where you gonna [E] go, where you gonna go, where you gonna
[Abm] sleep tonight?
And you're singing [Dbm] songs, thinking this is the life, and you wake [A] up in the morning
and you're helpless, pressed to size, where you gonna [E] go, where you gonna go, where you
gonna sleep [Abm] tonight?
[Dbm] And you're singing songs, thinking this is the life, [A] and you wake up
in the morning and you're helpless, pressed to [E] size, where you gonna go, where you gonna
go, where you gonna sleep tonight?
[Abm] [Dbm] And you're singing songs, thinking this is the life, [A] and
you wake up in the morning and you're helpless, pressed to size, [E] where you gonna go, where
you gonna go, where you gonna sleep [Abm] tonight?
[Eb] Oh, where you gonna [E] sleep [Db] tonight?
