[E] [A] Growing up, I would always look up [E] into the sky [C#m] and stare at the stars.
[E] I always dreamed of being an astronaut and working for NASA.
I never imagined doing anything else.
I [A] started playing piano when I was six years old, and [C#m] I absolutely hated it.
My mom [E] made all three of us take lessons.
[F#m] Jacob hated it the most out of all of us.
[E] Jacob loved to hunt.
He loved [B] being in the outdoors more than [F#m] anything.
[C#m] [E]
[B] Look how [E] cute she is.
This is [A] Sally, [E] Jacob's hunting dog and best [C#m] friend.
One of my [E] favorite things about Jacob [A] was he would never say a [E] bad word about anyone.
If I would even start to say something bad about someone, he would immediately stop [A] me.
He was [E] the kindest person I've ever [C#m] met.
[E] He would always make [A] everyone feel so included and loved [E] and welcome.
[C#m] [B]
Jacob was always the [E] life of a party.
He [B] was always so funny and goofy and was just such a joy to be around.

[C#m] It was 3.30. in the morning, and [E] my sister came running into my room. She said, Ann, I think something happened to Jacob. [A] And so I look outside, and the only thing I can see are [E] flashing blue lights. I run downstairs, and the first thing I see are six policemen [A] standing in front of my front door. They all [B] had really sad faces. So I walked [C#m] into the living room, and I see my parents. [B] My mom was sitting on a chair, [E] screaming, crying. My dad was sitting on the couch [A] with his head in his hands. And I just walked over to [C#m] him, and I just said, Dad, [E] is he dead? [A] He had just died in a car accident [Em] three hours prior. I was in shock. I [C#m] couldn't even cry at that moment. It's probably [B] [E] the most hopeless [G#] feeling in the entire world [E] when you lose someone [A] that you love. [C#m] It almost feels like you cannot take your next breath. [E] I heard the Lord [B] say to me so clearly, [E] Ann, are you going to trust me, [A] or are you not? [C#m] So I turned around, and I faced the doors in that room, [E] and I said to the Lord, Jesus, I trust you. As a family, [A] it was very devastating to lose Jacob. [C#m] When you lose someone [A] you love, [B] there's a decision that has to be made. [G#m] It's very easy to [E] be angry at the Lord and to blame [A] him. But the Lord really showed me that [C#m] I needed him more than anyone, and [B] that he's sovereign, and that he's good no matter what. [E] Yes, I have questions, and it's okay to have [B] questions. But there [C#m] was no point for me to be angry at the Lord when I needed him most. [A] The next [Em] morning, I got some time [B] to myself. [C#m] I sat down at the piano, [A] and I just started to sing, What [E] a Beautiful Name. I really just took that time [A] to thank the Lord for giving me Jacob for the years that I [B] had him. As I was playing and just worshiping the Lord, my [C#m] parents came in, and they heard me singing it. [B] They asked me if I would be willing to sing it at the funeral. [A] At first, I said no, [E] absolutely not. I had never [B] sang in front of anyone before. I sat down [C#m] with the Lord, and I just talked to him and prayed with him. [B] I really felt him calling me to sing at the funeral. And so [E] I eventually decided that I would sing. I got some friends together, and we put together a version of What a Beautiful Name. As I walked [G#m] up on stage, and I sat at the [F#] piano, the Lord took every bit of [E] nervousness away from me. I heard him [A] say to [E] me so clearly that I was called to [F#m] worship him. He was [A] saying to me, I'm calling you to worship me, to praise my name, and to [E] glorify me. At that point, I had no further interest in NASA or doing anything like that. All I had in me was the desire to worship the Lord and praise him. [B] The Lord [E] has really put on my heart how he can bring beauty from ashes, [C#m] and has done that completely in my life. [B] I feel so honored and grateful that I [E] get to share that with people. And then I get to tell my story with people on how the Lord completely has transformed this [C#m] awful and depressing and terrible tragedy into something so beautiful. [B] For me, moving forward, [A] no matter how hard [E] this gets, I'm [A] choosing to trust God. [C#m] [E] [B]
