Hey everyone!
I asked you to ask me anything about everything.
Let's begin.
Alright, Vectrum Gaming and John Kong, you both want to know how tall I am.
So, I went to the doctor yesterday.
She confirmed my suspicions.
I am in fact 5'8".
I've been 5'8", probably, for the last two years, and I probably will be for the next
rest of my life.
John Kong, you also want to know how much I weigh.
The doctor [Ab] also confirmed that I weigh about the same as four toddlers combined.
Gerald wants to know what my favorite color is.
Probably blue.
Nice color.
A couple people asked me how old I was when I got into music and when I started playing drums.
[F]
I started playing piano when I was 6.
I took classical lessons, as a lot of kids do, and started playing drums when I was 10.
Then, after playing the game Rock Band, I thought, I [Am] can do it on here, so I probably did it in real life.
Obviously isn't how it works, but I stuck with it.
Here I am, still playing drums, seven years later.
Do I [A] have musicians in my family that may have influenced me to play musical instruments?
Not really.
My mom played clarinet in high school, I think, but outside of [N] that, no professional musicians.
However, my parents have been very supportive of me throughout my entire musical career.
A [A] couple people asked who my musical influences are.
I'd definitely say Radiohead, the Police for their bass lines and their sparsity,
and definitely Power of Power also, just because they're super groovy.
My favorite Pink Floyd album?
I love Dark Side of the Moon.
It's a classic, and it's very well put together, obviously.
But I'd probably have to go with Metal.
It's my go-to [A] traveling album.
I like to listen to it in cars, on planes, on trains,
anywhere, in my house.
What song do you find difficult and skill-level, but really want to play and are practicing for?
Well, after getting a lot of requests to play the song Caravan from Whiplash, I've been practicing the intro to that song a lot.
It's really a fun one to play exactly like the recording, and then also to play variations of, so I've been spending a lot of time on that.
I'll probably post a video of it soon, so keep an eye out.
RandomSportGuy65, I'll definitely be posting more snare freestyle videos in the future.
In the meantime, if you can't wait for the next one to come out, there are a bunch on my Instagram page that you can check out.
What brought you into music?
It seems like the creative side of the sound, photo, video is also a big draw for you.
What is your ideal role in the industry?
That's a really good question.
I've always been very into music, especially when I started playing with other people,
[B] and I love exploring the visual side of music too.
Like you said, with photo and video, I think all art forms are connected in that way.
One just enhances [A] the other.
My ideal role in the industry, that's a really big question, but I think no matter what I do, I want to keep being creative and keep making videos and music.
I filmed the music video in the last two days of a family visit to South Africa.
My dad was born there, and one of my cousins works at the video production company, so she invited me to make a music video while I was there.
Jared, you asked what my opinion of punk and metal music is.
I went to a Green Day concert when I was younger.
They were one of my favorite bands, but since then I haven't really gotten that into punk or metal music.
If you have any suggestions for me to listen to, I'm always looking to listen to new music.
Comment them below.
How, in my opinion, [Bb] does a small and new band go about making original music and being successful?
Well, making the original music, I think, just takes time and patience.
With a laptop and a mic, you can record a whole album from home.
The being successful part is obviously a little different.
[A] There's not one answer for that.
[N] I've seen a bunch of bands take different paths to success, from [A] radio play, live shows, TV and movie placement.
I think it's just important to [B] explore all those different avenues that lead towards success.
Cotton Girls Gaming is asking about my [A]
musical genre and my future recording plans.
My album that I'm going to release soon explores a lot of different genres, as I'm still experimenting with my sound as a new artist.
I think in the future I'm not planning on sticking to one genre or letting anyone tell me what kind of music to make.
I think I'll just record what sounds good and what I want to hear.
I normally start writing music either on a piano or on my laptop, depending on the kind of song.
Piano songs, I'll find the chords, get a melody, get some words going.
On the laptop, I kind of will make a track and then maybe add the melody and words later.
Simply put, it's fun.
And then, not to be cliche, but music brings people together and I think it expresses emotions in a way that's unique.
Christian Ramirez asked about my future career in music.
I'm playing everything on this album, but I think in the [Bb] future I will definitely have other people [Am] playing on my recordings.
It's more of an experiment to learn more about [A] my sound and learn more about recording.
He also asked if I'm planning to join a group in the future.
[F]
I think I might do that, but I would definitely, in that case, continue being a solo artist on the side.
[A] I do play bass on this track.
It's an electronic [B] kind of synth bass part.
Not an electric bass, but it is still a bass part, [A] yes.
I love spending time with my family, making videos, [F] taking photos.
I do kickboxing [A] and I love eating food.
Good food.
I took a songwriting class with some friends when I was about 12, but really started taking songwriting seriously about a year and a half ago when I decided to make this album.
My favorite rudiment is definitely right, right, left, right, left, left.
One of the best moments in my life was probably when I first learned how to do a double stroke roll.
That was a good day.
Hey everyone!
