Alright, I get up.
[Dbm] [B]
[Dbm] [B] [Db]
There's always been a really strong kind of music [Abm] scene out here, so as a sort of band,
we've had no shortage of venues to go and play in.
Yeah, particularly around Warrandyte, there's a lot of festivals and Battle of the Bands
kind of things that you can get involved in that we all did a lot [Db] of when we were even younger.
Because me and Liam played [Gb] in bands and Josh and Sam busked, and we've all played in different things
There's definitely a lot of support, like being a band growing up in this area,
every gig you play you [Db] do get the local community, we had that for many years,
just the same kind of crew that would come and watch us play.
Now a lot of them will be from [B] this area.
There's a strong appreciation for the creative arts and things out here that definitely has helped I think.
Yeah, totally.
And we never went looking for gigs, that was the thing, we'd get a phone call and it'd be like
can you play this party, can you come play the [G] pub?
And we'd be like, are [Db] we free?
Yep, alright.
[B]
[Dbm] [Abm] [E]
[Dbm] [B] [Dbm]
[Abm] Yeah, [Db] [B]
this [A] is a [G] beautiful area to grow up [E] here in the Yarra Valley.
It's a really [Dbm] strong kind of music scene out [G] here as well, you know, [Abm] a bit of a shout out.
Here we are in the St Andrews pub, and this is [Ab] our old stomping ground
where we played some of our first gigs.
I think this is actually, the St Andrews pub, [A] this is the place we did our [Abm] first gig as this,
[A] where I played bass, you [Ab] played drums, you know, I'm pretty sure.
Yeah, probably would have been, yeah.
It would have been about 2007, 2008.
This [Dbm] is essentially where it began, yeah.

[A] Melbourne just has those good small to mid-sized venues that you can go and see a good [Eb] band that hasn't really broken [Ab] yet.
I think there's just like a really big mix of sizes of venues as well,
so [E] as an artist but as [Abm] a punter there's a real mixture of [Ab] different kind of gigs you can go see.
I think we're really lucky.
[A] Other cities you go to don't seem to have that [E] continuity of, across live music venues [Db] and stuff.
It seems like Melbourne really is so supportive of music as well,
because I was kind of noticing that around the world, as we're touring around the world,
and just thinking about how hard it is when you put on a show and it seems to not really turn over as much money,
and then you kind of like hear it, it seems to, I don't know, you have a much better leg up here for some reason.
The [Ab] economy of the music is really strong and the artist sort of power is really strong I think,
and there seems to [Gb] be a lot of venues that really support [E] artists,
and even [Abm] with that as far as how well people are paid, how well musicians are paid,
I mean sort of trying to break it in America is tough,
and just the [Ab] general sort of support for the artists is nowhere near as strong [B] as here.
[Dbm]
[Abm] [E]
[B] [Dbm] [Abm]
[B]
[Db] [Abm] [E]
[B] [Ab] [E] That was really good, yeah.
I wonder if that's going in the interview.
