Yeah, yeah, welcome!
Okay, you can go now.
Hello everybody.
Hi, thanks for coming.
[Eb]
Okay, this is the photo opportunity [F] time.
I'll do the first one.
[G] I'm still jet lagging a bit.
[N]
[Eb] [Dm]
[A] I'm a baby at this point.
[Gm]
[C] This is good humor.
[A] Yeah, it's all the famous.
[G] Filthy American.
You know.
[Eb]
[N] You alright?
Wanna come up here?
I can share with you.
Alright, I know.
[Gm] I'm fine.
[N]
[G] It's good to be looking at the [Gb] camera.
[A]
You're looking fine.
[G] You [C]
[Eb] just didn't read your instructions.
[A]
[Bb] [Ab] Oh, [G] I don't understand.
[N] I'm learning more and more.
[Fm]
Can you all just lay for a minute?
[Cm]
[Gm] Thank
[Gbm] [E] [Eb]
you [G] very much.
Keep the same success.
And a lot of the [N] younger groups and bands there,
from Boys Own to Steps and people like that,
particularly [G] in Europe,
have covered a lot of the songs.
[Gm] It's a great feeling for any songwriter to have a song,
particularly like Words, which was a big hit for Boys Own,
it was in 68 that was a hit.
So when you look at the longevity of the [C] songs
and they come back again and do [G] the same success,
it's a great feeling.
And I think [Dbm] we're very [C] proud.
We're proud of all our songs.
So to see them [G] come back and have another success
is a great feeling for us.
[A] Yeah, [Ab] [C]
it is more than a woman.
But we never actually,
sorry about that,
we never really ask these people to do our songs.
[N] They just do [Ab] them.
And that's what knocks us out,
that people will actually go out of their way to find
or listen to some of our songs
to see [Eb] if there's something worthy of recording.
So we never chase people to do our songs.
We did, we [C] did a long time ago.
I mean, they chase us,
but not to our songs.
[N] Oh, there you are.
I don't know the answer to that.
[A] Well, to that question, are there any of your songs
that you [G] consider sacred that you're running out of? No, no.
[Ab] The only thing we don't like is
we've had requests from people who want to remix the [Gb] original,
[G] or you should be dancing or something like that,
which we've refused.
We would never say no to,
[Ab] we don't have a song that we wouldn't have anybody
that wanted to do it to express it in their own way.
So remix the originals.
We had the Ghetto Superstar
by Pras-Michael and Mike Ripp,
which was Islands in the Street,
and because they were expressing it in their way,
we thought that was
[Eb]
[A] great.
You guys have been in a chat since the 60s,
stuck together [N] all the way to now.
Have you got any secrets to pass on?
Yes, sheeps are injections.
There's a lot of things that I thought should stick together.
[Ab] You know what I'm saying?
Well, I think it's [Eb] brothers, perhaps,
if [G] it's a secret.
[Fm] If you're [Eb] family.
I don't think a group like us
could really [Ab] stay together as long as we have
without being brothers.
And we all owe each other money.
Yeah, we all owe each other money.
And I think it's the [N] songs too.
It's the songs that have kept the longevity.
We've made music all our lives.
It hasn't been to be,
but we've done it all our lives
and we love doing it.
I think it's because we've been
not sort of bonded together
[Ab] by
unifying
the same goals.
I'm glad you told me your papers,
much like the craze.
[G] Yes, certainly, Brad.
Yeah, I mean, you're joking, then.
[Ab] No, no.
[N] Do you know of anybody who does?
[Bb] Actually, [G] we're just very fortunate
to have the success and to do what we've been doing
for so long, we feel very blessed.
[Ab]
It's something that we did when we were kids.
We just wanted to be liked and our music liked
and never thought about how much money you could [Eb] earn from it.
No one told us we could make any money out of it.
We thought we'd just make a bit of money.
You were quite surprised when we found out you were.
[G]
Yes, sir?
[N] John Bridges, Ice TV.
News of today, just noise.
Your views?
I'm sorry?
Have [Gm] you [Ab] been to the bar?
I'm just kidding.
[Gm] Why not?
Sorry, can you hit us with that again?
[N] Yes.
News of today, off the rails.
Music of today, just noise.
It's a riddle, isn't it?
Your views.
[G] It's a preamble.
[C]
Music of today, did you [N] say off the rails?
No, just noise.
Youth off the rails.
I don't think that's true.
I think there's good and bad in all kids.
They don't play their songs to you because you're dad.
I always say to them,
let me hear one of the songs.
Thank you.
[C] One
[N] life only,
is Donald Trump.
That was a high voice.
But [Eb] again,
I couldn't have planned [G] that.
You can call him Sue if you like.
Not possible.
[N] One of the only I believe that's done here in New Zealand
and any other country in the world.
What do you think that says [Cm]
about New Zealand audiences?
[Eb] Obviously it's a wonderful thing.
We're very, [E] very knocked out
that the album has done what it has done.
And we all,
[Gm] don't forget, this is the area of the world
where we grew [G] up.
We grew up in Australia,
and we grew up with the same kind of mentality
as the Mayoress described.
Wonderful open people,
wonderful weather.
[Ab] This is our part of the [Gm] world.
This is the place of our [E] childhood.
Is [Eb] that part of the reason [C] why
I think psychologically it might be.
In fact, one of the reasons
we [G] moved to Miami was because
it reminded us of Australia.
Very much so.
And this part of the world because we live on the sea and all that,
which we didn't when we lived [Abm] in Australia.
It reminded us very much of [N] that and the weather and everything.
It's very Pacific.
Is that part of the reason why you picked or chosen to play in Auckland?
To be specific, all Pacific, yes.
Specific Auckland.
So there's not money.
Why is it then?
It's too long.
It's been too long since [Db] we've been to New Zealand.
We wanted to come back.
We wanted to play Auckland.
[Ab] Last time I [Gm] think was 1974.
[C] So since then I've got a couple of grey beards.
[A]
But it's something that we always planned to do.
[E] We always wanted to come back and play this part of the world
[N] and New Zealand was definitely part of it.
It's a series of one shows, you know,
which is one night only.
And we're trying to do that in the places that are really important to us emotionally.
Anywhere in the world, you know.
[G] We just haven't done Russia yet.
Well the beauty of it is that we get to spend a lot more time
in each place we go to rather than seeing the hotel, the airport, the gig, the hotel, the airport.
[C] This time we get a chance to [Gb] see the culture,
[Gm]
the [G] history of the places we go to.
And for instance, recently we were in Johannesburg.
We'd never played South Africa before and that was a wonderful experience.
[N] So to come back to this part of the world, it's very much like coming home.
You did that
Okay, you can go now.

it's a great feeling.
And I think [Dbm] we're very [C] proud.
We're proud of all our songs.
So to see them [G] come back and have another success
is a great feeling for us. _ _ _ _
[A] _ _ Yeah, _ [Ab] _ _ [C] _
_ it is more than a woman.
But we never actually,
sorry about that,
_ we never really ask these people to do our songs.
[N] _ _ _ _ They just do [Ab] them.
And _ that's what knocks us out,
that people will actually go out of their way to find
or listen to some of our songs
to see [Eb] if there's something worthy of recording.
So we never chase people to do our songs.
We did, we [C] did a long time ago.
I mean, they chase us,
but not to our songs.
_ _ _ [N] Oh, _ _ _ _ there you are. _
I don't know the answer to that.
_ [A] Well, to that question, are there any of your songs
that you [G] consider sacred that you're _ running out of? No, no.
_ [Ab] The only thing we don't like is
we've had requests from people who want to remix the [Gb] original,
[G] or you should be dancing or something like that,
which we've refused.
We would never say no to,
[Ab] we don't have a song that we wouldn't have anybody
that wanted to do it to express it in their own way.
So remix the originals. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ We had the Ghetto Superstar
by Pras-Michael and Mike Ripp,
which was Islands in the Street,
and because they were expressing it in their way,
we thought that was _ _
_ [Eb] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [A] great.
You guys have been in a chat since the 60s,
stuck together [N] all the way to now.
Have you got any secrets _ _ to pass on?
Yes, sheeps are injections. _ _ _
There's a lot of things that I thought should stick together.
[Ab] You know what I'm saying?
Well, I think it's [Eb] brothers, perhaps,
if [G] it's a secret.
_ [Fm] If you're [Eb] family. _ _
_ I don't think a group like us
could really [Ab] stay together as long as we have
without being brothers.
_ And we all owe each other money.
Yeah, we all owe each other money.
_ _ _ And I think it's the [N] songs too.
It's the songs that have kept the longevity. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
We've made music all our lives.
_ _ It hasn't _ been to be,
but _ we've done it all our lives
and we love doing it.
I think it's because we've been
_ _ not sort of bonded together _
_ [Ab] _ _ by_
_ _unifying
the same goals.
_ _ I'm glad you told me your papers,
much like the craze.
_ [G] Yes, certainly, Brad. _ _
_ Yeah, I mean, you're joking, then. _ _ _
_ _ _ [Ab] _ No, no. _
[N] Do _ you know of anybody who does? _
_ [Bb] Actually, [G] we're just very fortunate
to have the success and to do what we've been doing
for so long, we feel very blessed.
_ _ [Ab]
It's something that we did when we were kids.
We just wanted to be liked and our music liked
and never thought about how much money you could [Eb] earn from it.
No one told us we could make any money out of it.
We thought we'd just make a bit of money.
You were quite surprised when we found out you were.
[G] _
_ Yes, sir?
_ [N] John Bridges, Ice TV.
_ News of today, _ _ just noise.
Your views?
I'm sorry?
_ Have _ _ [Gm] you [Ab] been to the bar? _ _
I'm just kidding.
[Gm] Why not?
_ _ Sorry, can you hit us with that again?
[N] Yes.
News of today, off the rails.
Music of today, just noise.
It's a riddle, isn't it?
Your views.
[G] It's a preamble.
_ _ _ [C]
Music of today, did you [N] say off the rails?
No, just noise.
Youth off the rails.
_ I don't think that's true.
I think there's good and bad in all kids.
They don't play their songs to you because you're dad.
_ I always say to them,
let me hear one of the songs.
_ _ Thank you. _ _ _
_ _ _ [C] One _ _ _
_ _ [N] life only,
is Donald Trump. _
That was a high voice.
_ _ _ But _ _ _ _ _ [Eb] again,
I couldn't have planned [G] that.
You can call him Sue if you like.
Not possible.
_ [N] One of the only I believe that's done here in New Zealand
and any other country in the world.
What do you think that _ says [Cm]
about New Zealand audiences?
[Eb] Obviously it's a wonderful thing.
We're very, [E] very knocked out
that the album has done what it has done.
And we all,
[Gm] don't forget, this is the area of the world
where we grew [G] up.
We grew up in Australia,
and we grew up with the same kind of mentality
as the _ Mayoress described.
Wonderful open people,
wonderful weather. _ _
[Ab] _ This is our part of the [Gm] world.
This is the place of our [E] childhood.
Is [Eb] that part of the reason [C] why_
I think psychologically it might be.
_ In fact, one of the reasons
we [G] moved to Miami was because
it reminded us of Australia.
_ _ Specific Auckland.
_ _ _ So there's not money.
Why is it then?
It's too long.
It's been too long since [Db] we've been to New Zealand.
We wanted to come back.
We wanted to play Auckland.
[Ab] Last time I [Gm] think was 1974. _
[C] So _ since then I've got a couple of grey beards.
[A]
But it's something that we always planned to do.
[E] We always wanted to come back and play this part of the world
[N] and New Zealand was definitely part of it.
It's a series of one shows, you know,
which is one night only.
And we're trying to do that in _ the places that are really important to us emotionally.
_ Anywhere in the world, you know.
[G] We just haven't done Russia yet. _
Well the beauty of it is that we get to spend a lot more time
in each place we go to rather than seeing the hotel, the airport, the gig, the hotel, the airport.
[C] This time we get a chance to [Gb] see the culture,
[Gm] _
the [G] history of the places we go to.
And for instance, recently we were in Johannesburg.
We'd never played South Africa before and that was a wonderful experience.
[N] So to come back to this part of the world, it's very much like coming home.
You did that
