[G] [Gm] Hey guys, [Am] this is Blanca and this is the story behind [Em] my new song Real Love.
[E] [Em] [G]
[Am] [Em] So the last year or so has been [G] a pretty challenging year.
[A] I've gone through definitely [E] some valleys and a lot of people may know my mom was [G] sick
and she passed away in December.
[Am] So there was a lot kind of [Em]
[E] I was having to work through for this new season.
[G]
So I entered [Am] writing a new record which is a very exciting [E] time nonetheless, but it definitely
had a lot on my heart and [C] a lot that I wanted to talk about.
The word that [D] I kept bringing up in these writes [G] were I wanted to feel honest, I wanted
to be real, I wanted to speak about [C] the trueness and the realness of what I just walked [D] through.
So I walk into [Em] this write and it was a writer named Emily [C]
and we sat down and that's where
the [D] conversation started.
I just wanted to be honest, I wanted [G] to be honest.
So I start sharing my story with her [Em] and from the very beginning, [C] you know, this is where
I come from, this is how I got to [D] know the Lord.
My dad [G] was into drugs and alcohol and he [C] found the Lord and brought us to church and [G] kind
of just gave her the full story.
[Am] So then she starts sharing her story [Em] on how she got to know the Lord and her father was
an atheist [G] and had a very real encounter with [Am] Jesus and just presented that [Em] to his kids.
So we saw this theme of just like [G]
relationship and real connection [Am] with Jesus and I'm like
[Em] this is what I want to write about.
I feel like so many people can connect to this.
I'm [G] connecting to it in this moment.
[Am] So we go down this venture of writing about [Em] real love.
What does that look like?
[E] What does that mean?
You know, and I think in my [G] life personally, there's been [Am] so many moments where I've [Em]
crossed
[E] real love with my [C] own drive.
What I [D] can accomplish out of my own hands, what I can [G] do from my own strength.
My worth, my identity is found [C]
in my striving and [D] who I think I can be when I [Em]
check everything
off the list.
And as I'm talking about it and I'm being very [C] honest with kind of [D] some of my insecurities
and some of my struggles, [G] it's like that's so far [Em] from God's love.
That's so far [C] from who he's called us to be and what he's [D] already done.
Like there's a line in the song [G] that I love and it says, [C] ain't it true that the [C#] veil was [G] torn?
Like didn't God already [Am] die on the cross to [Em] kind of take away all this fear, all this
bondage that we've placed on ourselves [G] in trying to be good enough to [Am] earn his love and affection.
And so in this [Em] new season with this new music, after everything that I walked [C] through, I
I've made a promise to myself [D] that it's time to [G] go there.
It's time to be real.
It's time to be honest and go there with God, even if it hurts, even if [C] it's hard, even
if it's ugly, like [D] it's needed.
And [Em]
as I speak about these things or just sharing it with my friends or family, [C]
I feel
like they're [D] connecting with it.
And there's [G] people that are with me and they're like, [C] we feel you.
We hear you.
Like we need this too.
If I could sum it [D] up in one word, it would be freedom.
[G] I needed freedom for myself [Am] to know [A] that it's [Em] not when I have every box checked [C] and when
I'm perfectly figured out and I've done [G] all the works that I can possibly do out of my
own [D] two hands that I'm good enough.
But [Em] no, like before [Am]
even the creations of the [G] earth, he says that he formed me and he
[D] made me and I'm perfectly made and that he has a purpose for my [F#] life.
And [C] so the freedom that comes from that has [D] been liberating for me to say [G] in everything
that I do, every song that I write, every time I step on a stage, [C] every time I'm in
a trying to be [D] a mother to my son or a good wife [Em] to my husband, like it's not about me
[C] trying to be perfect, [D] but it's about me accepting this is who [G] I am, who God's made me and his
love is more than [Em] enough for me.
So [C] this is real love.
[D] [G] [Am] [N]
