Hey guys, it's Carl Brown from Guitar Lessons 365 .com.
Got another good one today.
We're going to do Breaking the Law by Judas Priest.
So we're going to take care of the whole song for you today.
There's no guitar solo in this, but you know, we'll still have fun with it.
We're in standard tuning here and just as always, guys, if you like my lessons, please
check out my premium lessons.
I've got free trials going and there's a lot of cool stuff in there for you guys to check out.
Alright, hope to see you there.
So let's start with this one.
We're going to start with this main riff here.
Pretty simple riff.
We're just going to go-2-3 on the A string. [B] [C] Then do [A] that [B] again. [C] [A] And then one [B] more time. [C] [A] Alright, [B] [C] [B] [C] [B]
[C] so the rhythm [F] kind of changes throughout that, but it's still pretty simple. The same three notes repeated. Then come down to the first fret on the low E string. 1-3 on the low E. [G] And the [A] open A. [F] [G] [A] [G] [A] [F]
So you do that a couple times. [G] [A] [G] And then you're going to end it with the first fret on the low E [C] string, then 3-2 [B] on the A. [C] [B] All [A] together. [B] [C] [Am] [B] [C]
[Am] [B] [C] [F] [G]
[A] [F] [G] [A] [C] [B]
[A] Let's repeat. [B] [C] [B] [C] [F] [G] [A] [G]
[A] [C] [B] Now, I'm going to skip here. When they play that at the end of the song, the last chorus in the song, it's not really harmonized. It's just doubled an octave higher. So that's going to be played like this. It's just the same timing of the notes. Same notes. [C] [A] 2-4-5 on the G string. [B] [Am] [B] [Am] [B] [C] Alright, so you've got [F] that. Then 3-5 on the D. [G] 2 [A] on the G. [F] So you [G] [F] [G] [A] do that twice again. So we have this. [B] [C] [B] [F] [G] [F] [G] [A]
And then you're going to end this one with just the same [C] way. So [B] it's [G] going to be here at the fifth fret [C] on the D. [B] Then 5-4 on the [C] G. [B] [N] Alright, so that's kind of taking care of the entire intro riff is the chorus. So that's the chorus riff, but obviously at the end of the song they have that little double. Alright, so now let's take a look at the verse. The verse sounds like this. [A] [C]
[G] [A]
[D] [C]
[G] [A] [F]
[C]
[F]
[E]
Alright, so this is the first verse. The second verse is a little bit different. So we're going to start here with just this A power chord. [A] Then [F] you're going to mute the strings and do a quick down-up. [C] And then do the power chord at the third fret off the A string. Then do that [E] muted down-up again. And then the third fret off the low E [G] string. And then just [Ab] one mute [A] back to the A power chord. So we have this. [C] [G] [A]
And then just repeat that. [C] [G] [A]
Alright, now jump up to the eighth fret on the A string, [F] that power chord. Down to [C] three. Back to eight. [F] And [E] then down to seven. And when you get to the seventh, you can add the open string with it too. Low E, so [F] we have that. [C] [F]
It's pretty much like the pre-chorus [E] really. Alright, then we have the chorus. Let me play through that real [A] quick. Alright, pretty simple. That last chord is actually a double. It's a couple guitar parts. I'm putting them both together there so you don't have to make it that difficult. But I'll show you what's going on. You're just going to start just muting the A string open. Make sure [C] you get a light mute [A] going there. Now the guitar double is this. When they hit those, one of the guys is doing the fourteenth on the G and the D string. And he slides that down. The other one is doing it at the seventeenth fret on the high E string and the B string together. So you can put that together just by doing the bar here on the fourteenth [Em] and then using your little finger or your third finger, whatever feels comfortable, [A] on the seventeenth. So the first time through, you're going to hit it just once. And when they come back around, they're going to hit it twice. Then they repeat everything. Alright, so on that last, you're going to have to [Ab] go back and start the verse over. Now the second verse is a little bit different. Let's see if you can pick it up. [A] [E]
[C] [G] [A]
[C]
[D] [E] [F]
[C]
[F]
[E]
[A] Alright, so it's the same as before. Part of the way when you start, [C] [G] [A] that much is the same. And then when we start doing it the second time, we don't repeat [G] that same thing again. [A] It goes the A and then [C] the third fret power [A] chord, then [D] up to the fifth fret [Am] on the A string [E] and then the seventh fret with the low E string in [A] there. [C] [D] [E]
And then everything [F] after that, the pre-chorus, [C] is the same. [F] [E] [Am] And then we're [A] back into the chorus. Now out of that second chorus, we have the bridge section, which sounds like this. [B] [A]
[B] [A]
[B] [A]
[B] [A]
[D] [F] [C]
[D] [F] [G]
[D] [F]
[C] [D] [F]
[G] [A] [B] [E] Into that last chorus. So that's just starting with the, it comes out of the A power chord [B] into [Em] this B [B] power chord on the second fret on the A string. You strum it back to [A] the A [B] and then back and forth four times. [A] [B]
[A] [B]
[A] [C] Alright, and now we're [D] up to the fifth fret. And then we kind of let these ring out more, just fret on the A string power chord, to [F] eight and [C] three. And back [D] to the fifth, then eight [F] ten. [G] [D] Repeat that. [F] Five, eight, [C] three, [D] five, [F] eight, [G] [A] ten. And then we're [B] [C] back to that [N] same main riff again. Alright, so that's about it for all the guitar parts for this, you know, classic metal masterpiece. Hope you guys enjoyed it. I'll see you again soon for GuitarLessons365.com.
